Before & After | Chimney Damp Remediation

Another chimney damp issue properly diagnosed and dealt with from the source through to the final finish.

The chimney was capped off, re-flaunched, defective leadwork was renewed, and all affected internal plaster was removed.

We then:

* Applied a BBA-approved salt inhibitor
* Installed a BBA-approved damp remediation system
* Skimmed the affected area
* Completed the decorating ready for the customer

Everything was completed in-house from start to finish, allowing us to control the quality at every stage.

Some damp proofers just cover the problem. We diagnose it, treat it and repair it properly

The property was left clean and immaculate, with another very happy customer.

The external issues were resolved first, before the affected internal areas were treated with a salt neutraliser and the deteriorated plaster was carefully reinstated.

All work was completed using BBA-approved materials and methods, with an insurance-backed guarantee supplied for added peace of mind.

Before, during and after.

Although it is not clearly visible in the photographs, this wall had been suffering from extensive, ongoing damp, which was causing the surface paint to deteriorate, blister and flake away.

This is part of an ongoing project, with extensive external repairs still required to address the wider issues affecting the property.

Internally, the full external wall was stripped back to the original masonry and treated in accordance with the independent surveyor’s specification.

A cavity drain membrane system was installed to isolate the new internal finish from the damp and salt-contaminated masonry behind. The wall was then fully reinstated and plastered, leaving a clean, smooth finish ready for decoration once completely dry.

Before & After

A full kitchen damp-proofing refurbishment completed from start to finish.

The kitchen was carefully removed, all affected walls were stripped back to the original brickwork, correctly damp-proofed and fully reinstated before the kitchen was refitted seamlessly.

We also installed new electrical back boxes and socket fronts, and upgraded the tiles to a premium option chosen by the tenant. These extras were not included in the original quotation, but we completed them at no additional cost because we believe in improving every property we work in, not simply doing the bare minimum.

We also installed humidistat extractor fans to help control excess humidity and improve ventilation.

Small improvements can make a massive difference to the finished result, the tenant’s experience and the long-term protection of the property.

This property had previously been damp-proofed by another contractor, but the system had failed. Our completed works are now protected by both our personal guarantee and an insurance-backed guarantee for added peace of mind.

The damp issue was flagged during a RICS survey, so we were called in to carry out the necessary remedial work and get everything put right.
