WE’RE HIRING – ARBORIST / CLIMBER

GTC Environmental Ltd is looking for an experienced Lead climber or competent second cimber to join our growing tree team.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can complete tree works safely and to a high professional standard, and is comfortable working as part of a busy team across a wide variety of sites.

Location: Based in the South West, with work across England & Wales

Role: Full-time

Team leader: 38k - 42k basic - based on experience

Second climber: 31k - 35k basic - based on experience

Overtime - working away food allowance- accommodation paid

The work

Our tree team undertakes a varied mix of work including:

• Domestic & commercial arboriculture
• Utility and telecoms vegetation management
• Site and estate tree works
• Large-scale vegetation clearance
• Grounds and infrastructure contracts

Essential qualifications / tickets

Applicants should ideally hold relevant NPTC/Lantra qualifications, including:

• Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-cutting – formerly CS30
• Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm – formerly CS31
• Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue – formerly CS38
• Chainsaw from a Rope & Harness – formerly CS39
• Current Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (+F)
• Full UK Driving Licence

For a Lead Climber, we would also like to see good experience in:

• Aerial cutting and dismantling
• Rigging operations
• Crown reductions and pruning to specification
• Leading or assisting with the management of a ground team
• Completing works safely, efficiently and to a high standard

Additional qualifications such as MEWP/IPAF, woodchipper, stump grinder, utility arboriculture, UA tickets, Chapter 8/traffic management or towing entitlements would be advantageous but are not essential.

Who we’re looking for

We want someone who is reliable, professional and genuinely competent in the tree, with a good understanding of modern arboricultural practices.

You’ll need to be happy working away when required, as our contracts take us throughout England and Wales.

In return, you’ll be joining a growing environmental contracting company with a varied workload, modern machinery and equipment, and opportunities to develop further within our arboriculture and utility operations.
