The leaves have started.

You clear them.

You turn around.

There are more.

Welcome to autumn.

Our new grounds maintenance service isn't just about mowing. We also have the equipment to deal with strimming, hedge cutting, leaf blowing and general grounds maintenance.

Particularly useful for larger gardens, commercial premises and sites where keeping on top of everything can become a job in itself.

You enjoy the autumn colours.

We'll deal with what happens when they land.

The ride-on mower isn't quite ready for its winter holiday yet.

Grass growth slows as we head further into autumn, but that doesn't necessarily mean mowing stops overnight.

Weather and ground conditions matter far more than the date on the calendar.

For larger areas, a well-timed autumn cut can help leave grounds looking tidy heading towards winter.

And, frankly, while we have a ride-on mower sitting there, it would be rude not to give it something to do.

Something going bump in the night?

Before we blame Halloween, it's worth checking the loft.

Scratching, scurrying and unexplained noises above your head aren't necessarily paranormal activity.

At this time of year, wildlife and pests are increasingly looking for dry, sheltered places.

If your loft suddenly sounds occupied, we'd recommend calling C&D before calling the Ghostbusters.

We're considerably more useful with rodents.

Before you blame the rats...

Not every hole in the garden was made by a rat.

We regularly see people spot a hole, a bit of disturbed soil or something disappearing into the undergrowth and immediately decide they have a rat problem.

Wildlife identification matters.

Knowing what has actually caused the signs is the first step towards deciding whether anything needs to be done at all.

Guessing can lead to unnecessary treatment - and potentially harm wildlife that was doing nothing wrong.

If you're not sure what you're looking at, ask someone who knows.

Rats don't wait until winter to start looking for somewhere comfortable.

As temperatures begin to drop, food and shelter become increasingly attractive.

Sheds, outbuildings, garages, feed stores and commercial premises can all provide exactly what they're looking for.

Now is a good time to have a look around:
Are there gaps around doors?
Is vegetation growing right up against buildings?
Is food or animal feed stored securely?
Are bins properly closed?

A little prevention now can save you from discovering an unwanted tenant later.

A hedge can hide quite a lot.

An old football.

Three plant pots you'd forgotten you owned.

The neighbour's cat.

And, slightly less amusingly, signs of pest activity.

Keeping hedges and vegetation under control isn't just about making everything look tidy. It makes it much easier to spot burrows, runs, damage and other signs that something has moved in.

Our hedge trimmer has already joined the C&D equipment line-up, so we can now tackle the greenery as well as whatever might be hiding behind it.

Are the wasps still around?

Yes. September certainly doesn't mean the end of wasp season.

Colonies can remain active into the autumn, particularly when the weather stays mild.

In fact, late summer and early autumn can sometimes be when you notice them more as their normal food sources start to change.

If you're seeing a steady stream of wasps disappearing into a roof, wall, shed or somewhere else they really shouldn't be, don't start blocking the entrance.

Give us a call and let us have a look.

September is one of those funny months.

One minute you're sitting outside thinking summer might hang around forever.

The next minute you're looking at fallen leaves, an overgrown hedge and wondering why it's dark so early.

It's a good time to get outside areas tidied before autumn really gets going.

Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming and general grounds maintenance are now all part of what we can help with.

And yes, James does seem rather pleased with the new ride-on mower.

We suspect he may have bought himself a very large toy and called it a business investment.

There's a new member of the C&D team... and it has a rather large cutting deck.

We've expanded!

As well as pest control and wildlife management, C&D can now help with grounds maintenance too.

We've invested in a ride-on mower, hedge trimmer, strimmer, leaf blower and all the other kit we need to keep larger gardens, grounds and commercial sites under control.

So if the grass is getting away from you, the hedges are looking decidedly enthusiastic or you have a larger site that needs regular maintenance, give us a shout.

Same C&D. Just with more machinery.

And just like that, we're heading towards October...

The summer pest jobs are starting to wind down and the autumn ones are picking up.

It's been another busy few months for the team, with everything from wasps and insects to rodents, proofing and plenty of jobs in between.

A big thank you to everyone who's recommended us, called us out, shared our posts or simply followed along.

We really do appreciate it.

Now... where did that summer go?
