Caldwell & Robinson Solicitors, Derry

A modern legal practice in the heart of the Walled City, blending contemporary workplace design with heritage sensitivity.

Respecting the past for today’s living

At The Old Rectory — a late‑18th‑century Georgian Glebe House — we were asked to re‑order part of the existing accommodation to create modern, family‑focused living spaces, including a generous kitchen‑living area.

Works centred on careful repair and retention of historic fabric while introducing a new sociable kitchen‑living space suited to contemporary life.

Restoration of the original sash windows and associated panelling was essential in preserving the character and proportions of the Georgian rooms.

Planning permission, listed building consent, building control, technical coordination, kitchen design and on‑site liaison were all delivered by MI Architects’ conservation lead, Scott Caithness.

LIR Seafood Restaurant

A former yacht club reimagined as a sustainable seafood restaurant.

LIR blends coastal heritage with a fresh contemporary identity — a space shaped by craft, community and the Bann Estuary.

Repurposing existing buildings like this can reduce carbon, preserve character and unlock new commercial potential.
