🔒 Hooks Stuck Out or Won't Throw? Don't Force That Handle! 🔒

I was out fixing a composite door today where the customer was stuck in a nightmare scenario: the locking hooks wouldn't retract, leaving the door jammed shut! 🚪💥

When a gearbox inside a multipoint lock fails, it often loses drive to the top and bottom hooks. This means:

⚠️ Hooks can get stuck OUT, locking you out (or in!).
⚠️ Hooks won't throw IN, meaning your door won't lock securely—leaving your home vulnerable.

If you try to force the handle when this happens, you risk snapping internal parts or even damaging the door frame itself.

🚩 Warning Signs Your Hook Mechanism Is Struggling:

🪛 Stiff handle: You have to put real muscle into lifting the handle to throw the hooks.

⚙️ Crunching sound: Hearing internal grinding as the hooks try to drive out.

🚪 Door drop: If the door drops slightly, the hooks snag on the frame keeps, putting massive strain on the center gearbox.

That was the exact situation for a customer today! The internal mechanism inside their multi-point locking system gave out and jammed completely, leaving the door locked tight.

Instead of replacing the entire (and expensive!) full multi-point strip, we safely opened the door and swapped out just the failed centre gearbox—getting everything working like new while saving the customer a bundle! 💰✨

Call out to a customer whose door had jammed and not letting them into the property.

Access was gained and upon inspection the gear box had failed meaning the multipoint locking system was not operating as it should.

This was replaced on site and the customers door working as it should in no time.
