No posts for a while but that doesn’t mean I havnt been busy, just a break in posting.
Here’s a job that has been done this week.
Customer had a older combi boiler in their kitchen, with a few major issues, its flue discharged straight into next doors garden which is not allowed and also due to the kitchen built around it, service access was impossible.
The house had a large cupboard upstairs suitable to house an unvented cylinder and the only readable boiler location was externally around the back of the house. This made for a great solution to all the customers problems, not the easiest piping job to to partially exposed beams and a full hand built kitchen, but the end result was a great job undertaken with care to ensure everything looked untouched at the end of the job. End result a very satisfied and happy customer.

Installation work carried out earlier this week on a house renovation I had first fixed earlier in the year.
The mission this week was to get as far as getting the boiler and unvented cylinder in as well as zones for underfloor, upstairs radiators and towel rails as well as the done for the hot water.
My customer wanted to get the underfloor heating operational to make life better for living in the renovation and also for the plasterers to skim the rest of the property.
Temporary power supply provided to the boiler, circulation pump and underfloor pump to facilitate this.
Once skimmed out I’ve got the upstairs radiators and towel rails to fit, by which time the customers electrician should have completed his 2nd fix which includes all the heating controls.

Havnt posted for a while but here’s an installation carried out today and yesterday.
A Grant Vortex 15-21 Eco external, the boiler itself has been installed away from the wall, this is because next year the property is going to be externally insulated and then rendered, after that the boiler is to be moved up against the new wall surface.
Internally I have installed a Monarch water softener, along with a 170 litre slimline unvented cylinder, heating is a sealed system, the heating is zoned upstairs and downstairs along with a 3rd zone ready for an underfloor system in a part finished extension, there is then a 4th zone for the unvented hot water.

Havnt posted any installation photos for a while
So here goes:
Finished this one today
Grant Vortex Eco 21-26 on a low level balanced flue, “S” plan heating controls with twin channel programmer and radio room thermostat, Wilo pump and Grant Mag One filter. Hot water provided via a 170 litre slimline unvented hot water cylinder, sealed heating system.
Previously customer had a Combi that was located in the utility room the other side of the door, decided to upgrade to a heat only boiler and unvented, relocated into the garage as it made more sense to be there.

Oil tank installation completed today, tank had to be completely relocated due to the original tank having been installed by the house builder stuffed in a gap behind the neighbours garage in such a location it was impossible to comply with regulations, luckily my customer had this location tucked behind her garage for a compliant installation. I did the concrete base and oil supply pipe last week and sited the new 1200 litre bunded tank today, transferring the contents from her old tank, the old tank was then decommissioned and taken away to a licensed tank disposal company.

Interesting and unusual job carried out over the last 2 days. My customer had what I’m guessing is a 1960’s built very architectural bungalow, the heating system installed back then was a microbore manifold system with individual flow and return pipes to every radiator, these were a mixture of 10mm, 8mm and 6mm copper (I’ve never seen 6mm used in heating before) the performance of the system had diminished recently and then to add to the trouble the manifold started leaking.
We had discussions about a full repipe but it would have been a very intrusive and difficult mission due to the unusual design of the property. So an upgrade / replacement of manifold was decided upon in the hopes it would work (no guarantee it would but was hopeful)
I removed the cylinder for access carefully cut out the old manifold, paired and flushed each pipe loop, this revealed that the original installer had never piped it up correctly. Then adapted all the pipes in the floor to 10mm copper and extended them up to a pair of Emmeti wall mounted manifolds, then refitted the cylinder and upgraded the zones / controls to “S” plan plus, with the additional zone doing a towel rail.
The final outcome was a success with the heating system now working better than it has done for some considerable time.
