This week we’ve been busy on a variety of different jobs.🌳

We have plenty of our seasoned firewood in stock, and we have had plenty of enquiries already, don’t forget to get stocked up before the colder weather creeps in. 🪵

It’s been a busy week at HRJ working across a range of projects. From heavy reductions to small pruning jobs, and woodland management to commercial sites. The machinery has been kept very busy too, using our cherry picker and loader on different sites. We’ve also been out delivering our seasoned hardwood logs ready for some cooler autumn weather when it arrives. 🪵🌳

Here’s a selection of pictures from some of the jobs we’ve been working on this week. First up, we were grinding out some stumps for a residential customer. Next, we have been deadwooding oak trees, one oak was completely dead so rather than remove the tree we took all of the small dead wood off of the tree and made coronet cuts to support wildlife habitats. We also pollarded a poplar tree as there were fears that the limbs would eventually snap out, as two of the limbs had already failed. This was a great time for us to gain access through a field as it had now been harvested. Lastly, we used our two sets of ramps to drive out stump grinder over some delicate paving slabs to gain access to some stumps at the rear of a property.
We are delivering logs now, so this is a great time to start stocking up before the busy rush when the cold weather hits. 🪵

Here’s one of the jobs we completed this week. We reduced and reshaped a large conifer hedge and a few other trees such as a crab apple, conifer and cherry. We’ve got a jam packed week coming up with some exciting new work.

This week at HRJ, we have removed a larch tree using a zip line system over in Saffron Walden. We also used our MEWP to reduce a holly tree and lift up the canopy of a row of trees which were restricting a tractor from cutting the grass underneath. Believe it or not we have had some firewood enquiries this week and loads of logs have been delivered. If you’d like to stock up early we are more than happy to start delivering. We have over 300 cages of hard / soft wood produced this year from forestry projects, so the majority of the hard wood will be ash and the soft wood mainly pine. All great for burning and fully seasoned.

The first half of these photos are of a job we completed a week ago. We were tasked with removing all of the overhanging trees that were in the lake and repositioning them within the woodland area to create a dead hedge. We also removed any small trees encroaching on the woodland path and removed 2 dead willow trees in another area using our cherry picker. To do this we used an 8 tonne digger with a selector grab and our Avant loader. The second set of photos are of a job we completed more recently where we removed a row of conifer hedging, removed a cherry tree, pollarded an ash tree and stump ground all of the stumps. The last photo shows another hedge cutting and cherry reduction we did recently.

Here’s some photos from the last week. We removed two conifers from our clients property, spraying the woodchip on the ground and pulled a trench through with the digger for future planting works. On another section of this property we graded off an uneven area ready for seeding. We’ve also been out delivering logs, it’s never too early to stock up. On another project we have been dead wooding mature oak trees using our MEWP. We have also removed an oak tree this week.
