🍂 ✂️ We’re back into HEDGE TRIMMING season again!

This is probably one of my favourite times of year as there’s few tasks as satisfying as taking a fluffy, overgrown hedge and finishing up with something tight and crisp!

This is an ideal time of year to cut back conifer and evergreen hedging, and to trim up topiary, and look at tidying up your trees. Autumn and winter storms can deliver a beating and the last thing you want is falling branches or wind-rock damaging your garden.

Other types of hedging such as deciduous hedging are best cut through the winter, and any large reductions in height are best done later on as well.

Bird nesting season starts again from 1st of march, but don’t leave it to the last minute to book in your hedges, as our diary IS IN DEMAND!

Some days I really don't want to head out the door. Mostly because it's wet, and sometimes because it can all be a bit overwhelming when you have to do it all on your own.

Luckily, I'm pretty good at shaking that off and heading out anyway. Most of the time, the answer is to force yourself to go make a start, and before you know it you're just working away.

🤩 What a transformation! Finishing off the garden clearance I shared the other week. This time clearing the sections at the front of the house, focusing on cleaning up an overgrown driveway, front steps and entrance, and completely opening up the connection between the house and the garden.

🚨 🆘 GARDEN RESCUE 🆘 🚨

This property had a garden that had been left to grow wild, and had become more of a jungle than a usable outdoor space.

The owner needs to get this back under control and so they turned to Oak & Sparrow as their first choice to turn this around.

NOW, the large lawn areas have been completely cut back and tamed, and the overgrown shrubs and huge self-sown buddleja have been trimmed and cut back. The stone paving had grass and weeds that almost completely concealed the stone flags, and have now been cleared.

We’ve taken a wild, inaccessible space, and turned it into a garden that now feels manageable and easier for the owner to keep on top of.

🪄Transformation time! ✨

This customer had an area of lawn and banking, which had become long and overgrown. They wanted it brought back under control so it would be easier to maintain going forward, so they brought in Oak & Sparrow as their first choice to tackle it.

👨‍🌾 I spent the afternoon strimming this down, working my way down into the gully, clearing the slopes and cutting down sycamore saplings. Once the bulk of the material was cut down, I then started mowing over the area to bring it back down to a manageable lawn height.

🌞 It had been a hot day, but thankfully the large mature trees made for a good umbrella! By the end, the customer was thrilled with the end result.

It’s a busy time of year, with a lot of people getting in touch for help in their gardens. Thank you to everyone for your support, and patience!
