Seventy-two reviews. Every one of them five stars.

We have 72 five-star reviews on Birdeye and a rating of 5.0 out of 5. Not one below five.

We have deliberately not pasted our favourite lines onto our website. You can read them in full, in the customers' own words, on Birdeye — which is the only way you can tell they are real.

Read enough of them and the same things keep coming up, and none of them are about glass:

- The house was left clean and the old frames were taken away.
- The price quoted was the price paid, with no extras appearing at the end.
- They were given a straight figure and then left alone to think about it.

That last one seems to matter most. Nobody enjoys being sold to in their own front room.

Powder blue, against white render, with diamond glass.

Most people come to us thinking their choice is white, oak or anthracite. It is not. Composite doors come in a long list of colours, and the glass, the furniture and the frame colour are all separate decisions.

The mistake we see most often is picking a door in isolation on a screen. A colour that looks smart on a white background can disappear against red brick, or shout against render. It is worth holding a sample up against your own wall in daylight before you decide.

You can have a play with combinations on our door designer, then talk it through with James when he comes to measure.

Mid-job, and this is the bit you never see in the brochure.

New opening framed up, insulation going in around it, and a view out over the fields once the glass goes in. Nothing pretty about this stage — but this is where a window either ends up airtight or ends up draughty for the next fifteen years.

What the lads are doing here matters: packing the frame square so it is not under stress, sealing properly around the outside, and insulating the reveal so you do not get a cold line round the edge of the glass.

Get this wrong and the best window on the market will still feel cold and pick up condensation in the corners. Get it right and a mid-range window performs like it should.

It is why we use our own fitters rather than subbing it out. Ring James on 07889 242453 and ask him about the fit, not just the frame.

What actually makes a front door secure.

It is not the thickness of the slab. Most break-ins through a door go through the lock, the cylinder or the frame — not the middle of the door.

So look at three things:

The cylinder. An anti-snap cylinder is the single biggest upgrade. Snapping a standard one is quick and quiet, and it is the method most opportunists use.

The lock. A multi-point lock throws bolts into the frame at several heights, so force gets spread instead of concentrated on one point.

The frame and the fit. A good lock in a frame that was packed out badly is a good lock in a weak frame. This is the bit that comes down to who fits it.

The old timber door had done its time — paint lifting off the frame, panels weathered, and an original cast letterplate hanging on for dear life.

The replacement is a sage green composite with an arched top light and a white frame, and the side panel was renewed at the same time so the whole opening matches.

No scaffolding, no week of disruption. Old door out, new one in, the mess taken with us. That last bit comes up in our reviews more than anything else.
