bmd Architects LLP, formally the Bader Miller Davis Partnership, was founded in 1958 in offices in High Holborn by Lawrence Bader and Edward Miller, both now retired. The Practice is still based in Central London in a converted Victorian Grain Warehouse in the City of London. Over the almost 60 years bmd Architects have been in practice, they have successfully applied their skills and resources to

achieve optimum solutions for their clients. They regard their clients requirements as the focus of their design development ensuring that the building not only works as a form but works as an environment. The basics of a building is that it is easy to build, economic to construct, efficient to heat and maintain and yet is aesthetically pleasing to both the building user and public at large. To achieve this, bmd Architects pay particular attention to detail combining principles of traditional methods of construction with current technology. Whilst they have developed considerable experience within certain fields of Architecture, they have a vast range of experience covering a broad spectrum of building types. bmd Architects do not have a design formula that is adapted to each individual project. Instead, each project is approached from first principles, dealing with its own specific issues and requirements. bmd architects enjoys a reputation for providing appropriate and sensitive design responses to Clients needs producing practical and efficient buildings. In 2025, bmd architects opened up an office in Jersey int eh Channel Islands, that will be focusing on domestic architecture.

It was so wonderful getting the bmd team together in London this summer. We enjoyed a virtual scavenger hunt "The Lost Elephant" around Spitalfields, followed by an ethical lunch Unity Diner and a game show quiz at We might have partaken in some sneaky cocktails in a few speak -easy afterwards, we really couldn't say. We were so excited to submit an entry into the Museum of Architecture's "Reimaging Crystal Palace" Competition. We designed a building for the community where reuse and repair skills can be learned. Growing plants and community allotments take pride of place and the produce is used in community kitchens. An exhibition hall and auditorium are all part of the centre so that creative ideas can be shared. It was a fn project for the team to work on.

This fun house extension in London was completed last year and has lots of playful features. Features such as a swing in the kitchen, chalkboard walls and bespoke artwork that wraps around the house and garden hand painted by street artist Ansley Randall. The extension is filled with natural light courtesy of the triple glazed skylight and Kloeber UK LtdAnsley Randal UberSlide slimline naked aluminium sliding doors. Exposed brick walls, bamboo flooring and steel beams create a multitextured environment which is modern and cosy. Love this project? It's currently for sale!

Who said workspaces can't be fun? BMD Architects London office completed this fun and flexible office design in Central London. We were appointed from Stage 2 design and also advised on materials, furniture and design. We are so pleased with the result and our clients couldn't be more pleased.

“Trends We Saw at CDW” Series – There were incredible seating options at the design week. Including some creative work pods. All the designs are tactile and ergonomic. An amazing range seating for every possible solution, as tested by BMD Architects London's Partner Matt. Our London office designs a lot of office spaces and the products they were able to see and try have been invaluable for future projects.
