Studio 29 Architects We are a multidisciplinary studio in London specialist in architecture and interior design

We are an architecture and interior design studio with offices in West and South East London. We are a female led business with more than 20 years of expertise in the renovation and extension of residential properties and a 95% record of planning application approved. We work alongside clients to renovate their homes from design and planning stages through tendering and construction to furnishing and decoration.

Is it worth it? 💰
Yes, if it makes your life better and the cost per use is negligible.

Our clients decided on a bespoke raw iron baby gate that costed £750 and matches the banister of the stairwell, knowing that a white plastic gate is £32.99 at John Lewis.

On the other hand, they were very happy when, we proposed to pair 2 wall lights sold on ebay for £35 with a £2 rice paper lantern bought on Portobello Road for baby’s nursery.

Mixing high and low is one of our skills!

Not a real photo-shooting yet and with a few bits still missing - bedside tables! mirror! - but, after a complete renovation and interior design projevt, here is a new home by Studio 29!

Beloved and enjoyed by a family of 3 in one of the prettiest corners of Notting Hill.

The William Morris wallpapered lobby replaces what was a narrow and dark corridor and acts the hearth of the flat.
The bedrooms, study, family bathroom and cloakroom all open on to it, as does the stair leading to the living space and terraces upstairs.

Best small armchairs on a budget.
I did a bit of research for a recent project, where we needed something small to complement a rather big - and very expensive! - sofa.

1. a rattan armchair is always a good choice, specially if paired with a formal/serious/a bit too dark sofa. Think of it as the straw bag which brings Summer in your Winter wardrobe. This is only 63cm deep, for a generous 81cm width! Ikea Stockholm 2025.

2. A bit mid century modern, slim and sleek. Would be a perfect reading chair or if you need something with a decent seat height. And it has a pretty back too, in case you want to place it in the middle of a room. By Laredoute, that untapped mine of good design at low cost.

3. I love almost everything about this classic Ikea piece designed in 1967 and now re-edited.
The swivel, the plump cushions, the tapered base. I am not mad about the corduroy fabric, but hey, let’s not ask for perfection at less than £200!

“What can go wrong in your business, you might mess up some cushions!”

That was a very silly (and machist and ignorant!) thing someone told us a while ago while discussing risks in our business.

Turns out we do much more than cushions:
we support people when they are buying a home, plan and design major refurbishments, help clients budget for their project, make sure the works are carried out well and in line with regulations, standards and planning requirements, collaborate with builders in London and remotely and another million things that I am too tired after a week of doing them to list them all!
And we do choose cushions too! 😜
