Sometimes a heat pump sounds like the best option, but sometimes a gas boiler makes more sense 👇🏼
The customer was an 83 year old women who lives alone in a 4 bed.
The property had a total heat loss of 13kW.
If I was to install a heat pump that operated at a flow temp of 45°C and below, she would have needed an average of 2 radiators in each room.
I could have installed one at a 50°C flow temp, but I don’t believe it would be cost-effective, regardless of what the data suggests.
And for someone living alone at 83, I don’t feel comfortable recommending a system without being confident it would make financial sense for her.
There’s a big difference between a heating system being ‘’technically suitable’’ for a property and being the right financial decision for the person living in it.
And I think as installers, we have a responsibility to recognise and implement that.
