Congratulations, Olivia!

After years of hard work, dedication and commitment, Olivia has recently completed her Part 3 studies with Distinction and is now a fully qualified Architect.

Olivia followed the Degree Apprenticeship route, allowing her to gain valuable experience within practice from the very beginning of her studies, while combining academic learning with real world experience.

Working in practice throughout her studies has provided Olivia with the opportunity to develop her skills, knowledge and confidence, while gaining a genuine understanding of the architectural profession. It has also enabled her to apply her academic learning directly to live projects, building valuable experience alongside her studies.

We are incredibly proud of Olivia and all that she has achieved, and we look forward to seeing her continue to develop and progress in her career as an Architect!

During the World Cup, GRADONARCHITECTURE held a sweepstake with valued clients and people we work with, raising donations to support the U14 Washington Wildcats Girls football team, which is coached by our Technical Director, Graeme.

Since then, the donations have already helped the team with a range of things, including new bibs, cones, footballs and team kits, improvements to their training
facilities, and even supporting the girls in taking part in a tournament.

While these may seem like simple pieces of equipment, they can make a huge difference. Having the right resources and opportunities allows the girls to develop their football skills, build confidence and grow as young athletes, while also supporting their overall wellbeing.

We’re proud to support such a fantastic group of young athletes and proud of the commitment Graeme continues to give to the team.

Today is a huge milestone, and we want to wish everyone receiving their results the very best as they take the next step in their journey.

Whether you’re heading into further education, starting an apprenticeship, entering the workplace or exploring your options, there are so many exciting opportunities ahead.

At GRADONARCHITECTURE, we’re passionate about supporting young people and helping them take their first steps into the industry. Over the years, we’ve welcomed many students into the practice, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience, learn from those working in the profession and explore where a career in architecture and the built environment could take them.

We’re particularly proud to continue supporting the T Level route and the opportunities it provides for young people to combine classroom learning with valuable, real-world industry experience.

Our commitment to T Levels has been longstanding. Tanja Smith, who previously represented GRADONARCHITECTURE, played an active role in supporting their development, contributing to industry panels and helping to raise awareness of the different routes available to young people entering the profession.

It was fantastic to see Tanja’s wider contribution to industry and education recognised with an OBE.

As we continue to support the next generation, we’re proud to play our part in giving young people the experience, confidence and opportunities they need to take their next steps and build successful careers.

GRADONARCHITECTURE is an award-winning practice of architects registered with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London and accredited to ISO9001 quality and ISO14001 environmental standards.

Our team is made up of Architects and Architectural Technologists located in our Studios in the Northeast of England, as well as in strategic project locations throughout the UK and across the world, successfully and flexibly delivering our services through a hybrid of studio based and home working environments. The way in which our team works, at times remotely but always collectively together, responds to our own lifestyles, improving our mental health, wellbeing and productivity, as well as reducing our carbon footprint in response to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.

Collectively, we bring together a strong resource of dedicated and highly experienced professionals, with a wide range of skills and varying sector experience across different cultures, who as well as delivering Architecture for today, mentor and invest their time into our interns and apprentices, shaping and evolving our team for future generations and the Architecture for tomorrow.

This is an exciting opportunity: you will work through all RIBA work stages across live projects from concept through to delivery, gaining broad, hands-on exposure to different building types and every stage of the design process, from early concept work and planning submissions through to technical detailing, consultant coordination, and construction-stage support.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been delighted to welcome Kasie to the team as part of her work experience placement.

During her time with us, Kasie has had the opportunity to get involved in a mix of work across the studio, giving her a valuable insight into the different aspects of the industry and what day-to-day life in a working studio looks like.

From working alongside the team and experiencing the variety of tasks and projects that take place behind the scenes, to visiting sites and seeing the work, Kasie has been able to develop new skills, build her knowledge and gain a better understanding of the opportunities available within the industry.

Work experience is a great way to explore potential career paths and gain practical knowledge that can be carried forward into further education and university. We hope the experience has given Kasie greater confidence in her abilities and plenty of skills and insight that she can take with her into the next stage of her education.

It’s been a pleasure having Kasie as part of the team, and we’re delighted to have been able to support her learning and development.

We recently returned to this Grade II listed school to complete the final stage of our building survey.

Once complete, the project will upgrade the existing windows to improve comfort and energy efficiency while meeting the planning requirements of this historic building.

We recently undertook a site visit to Roker Methodist Church to carry out a quinquennial inspection. It’s always rewarding to work with historic buildings, contributing to their ongoing care and maintenance while continuing to grow our heritage portfolio.
