One of those details you definitely don’t need...
..but once you’ve seen it, you’ll probably want it.

Bespoke walnut chopping boards, built into the cabinetry beside the AGA.

Once the Röshults wood-fired oven is up to temperature, you push the logs to the back to create a clear cooking surface.

The curved roof of the oven naturally draws the flames over the food, helping create an even heat whether you’re cooking wood-fired pizza, vegetables or meat.

It’s one of the reasons the Röshults wood-fired oven cooks so evenly.

Back inside Railway House...

The downstairs bathroom may be one of the smallest rooms in the building, but it certainly isn’t plain.

Burgundy tiles, mustard walls, a checkerboard floor and colour-matched details prove that practical spaces don’t have to play it safe.

Next, we’re heading upstairs.

One of our favourite things about this kitchen is the tonal palette.

The olive green cabinetry might catch your eye first, but look a little closer and you’ll notice the stained timber repeated throughout the breakfast bar, shelving and stools, with warm cream joinery and natural oak flooring tying everything together.

It’s all working within the same tonal family, which is what gives the space such a calm feel.

Wade describes it better than we could. Open-plan living isn’t just about creating one big room.

It’s about everyone being part of the same day. Someone’s cooking, friends are chatting over lunch, the kids are running in and out of the garden, someone’s got Formula 1 on in the background, and no one feels tucked away in another room.

That’s exactly how Wade and Sam wanted their home to feel.

Our tour of Railway House starts in the basement.

Inspired by the atmosphere of a members’ club, this space balances raw concrete and industrial character with warm oak joinery, crafted details and lighting designed to make you want to stay a little longer.

Next stop: one of our favourite rooms in the building.
