So today was a little different.

I got to watch the Gelada Baboons go back out into their newly refurbished enclosure at Edinburgh Zoo.

There has been a lot of work gone into the new enclosure with new caves, earth mounds and stone placement for the Geladas to enjoy.

Along with a new perimeter fence where I stripped out the old one and erected a new fence.

This was a spec which I made up for Edinburgh Zoo.
With one horse net clipped on top of another along with an anti dig net which was dug out and buried into place. Then 8 lines of electric on cranked tops and offset insulators.

This was all put on 12’ strainers and 10’ intermediate posts.

This was certainly a challenge but the finished product is certainly top notch.

Thanks to for organising and supplying the timber and electric products and the assistance with organising the concrete panels and blocks for the caves.

A nice straightforward one knocked out for a new customer in Peeblesshire.

Two fences stripped line dozed and new fences knocked up.

Another one ticked off..

A march fence that certainly wasn’t a walk in the park.

The old fence was stripped and removed off the hill.

The new fence certainly tested us. With a mixture of soft peat in some areas to the top of the hill having only a couple of inches of soil before hitting rock.

Another one ticked off the list.

A new woodland creation completed in the Scottish Borders.

The new rabbit net plough stepping up to the mark to ensure the fence will remain long term hare proof.

Glad to finish this one. Was extremely wet and tricky ground conditions certainly made it a challenge.
Had to do some thinking outside the box at times too.
10’ strainers and 6’ stabs should stand up to the stick pressure in the soft ground.

Some recent works we have completed for a new customer.
With them having recently taken on this new ground they wanted to spec they fence for either sheep or cattle.
They went for Tornado r8/90/15 net with electric top on 6’ posts to give them the extra height and strength in the fence and creo strainers.
We also did a new access gateway for them to allow them to get access with the large kit they run and a new set of front gates to smarten up the driveway but still allowing them access for wide tractors.

A great day out yesterday having a go in our first fencing competition. A great experience and a lot to take away from it.

Well done to the lads on the podium. A great standard to compete against.

Well done to my right hand man Lewis Brown what a shift he put in.

Glad to be back on the knocker today though.

The snow has gone and we are getting torn back into it. So nice to have a bit of sunshine again.

The snow made it feel like a foreign country as we were fencing chapping our way through an established wood today. The Bryce coming into its own weaving it’s way through the trees.
