Ive got tulips on my mind at present as I am in full planning mode for 2027!

Planting wonā€™t happen until at least November after a good ground frost
(last years planting even went on until Boxing day!)

But as I am planting 100ā€™s of bulbs in the field its something that needs to be planned.

Tulips are a pricey bulb to buy.
And for a flower farm these tulip bulbs only produce a worthy flower at top grade for one year only! They also flower at different times in the season early, mid and lates ā€¦ So choosing the right tulip is vital and particularly important the flowers have a future home!

So I am wanting your input!

Statice haul this week!

These plants have been growing brilliantly with the mixed weather we have had. Fantastic at producing multiple stems and it will always have a place in the flower field. Perfect for fresh blooms & for drying.

We had a wonderful afternoon supporting at their Summer Fair. A great day in the sunshine!

Thank you to everyone that stopped by my stall to make a bouquet or jam jar arrangement. I always love chatting all things flowers and particular love peopleā€™s reactions to the flowers grown here on the farm. Flowers picked and snipped straight from the flower field!

Well done to all the staff and volunteers for all their hard work and of course the animals!!

ā­ļøLast week was epic!!

Blackpool In Bloom - WINNER

An amazing achievement for some of my very hardworking and dedicated volunteers !

Iā€™ve had the pleasure of working and supporting ideas and projects within a beautiful community garden this year based in Blackpool.

Itā€™s developed from an unused yard to a place for residents to sit, enjoy, pick flowers and take fresh produce home. Filled with fruits, veggies & flowers.

Itā€™s become an amazing hub environment and a peopleā€™s pantry for the local residents to use. Its drive is the volunteers behind it and they have worked exceptionally hard these past few months to make sure it was looking immaculate for judging day!

Theyā€™ve all been a pleasure to work with, bringing fresh ideas, mini projects, my flower / growing knowledge and some woodworking skills!

Looking forward to seeing this community garden develop even further !

šŸŒ»Flowers are back
The flower field has had a much needed rest after a lot of continuous snipping and consistent heat.. the flowers were looking a little tied. Now after a sprinkle of rain and a good feed ā€¦ they are back !

This means ā€¦.

ā€¢ Flowers will be available Friday to Sunday on the flower stall outside Ivy Dene Alpacas St Michaels PR3 0UA

I am so looking forward to welcoming PYO Bouquet gift voucher groups this week for their private time at the field. Picking and snipping flowers & creating gorgeous bouquets to take home.

ā€¢ And finally ..
We are extremely excited to be supporting Ivy Dene Animal Sanctuary Summer Fair this Saturday ā€¦
We will have a pop up stall full of British blooms so you can get creative with making your own bouquet or jam jar posy (perfect for the kids).

Come along and support them if you can !
Itā€™s always a great day, lots of activities, and so many animals to see and feed!

To those who attended The Flower Club on Sunday.
ā€¢ Check your flowers
ā€¢ Snip the ends of your flower stems
ā€¢ Refill your container with fresh water
ā€¢ Ensure all stem ends are in the water
ā€¢ And no greenery below the water line

This will help to prolong the life of your flowers. No flower feed needed

šŸ“Field Update

Iā€™ve decided due to the previous hot weather and an over worked field that the flowers are going to have a rest over the coming week. Some flowers have already gone to seed due to the heat and these now need attention.

āœ‚ļø Iā€™ve got one last big snip for a wholesale order this week, for a florist who is showcasing in the professional floristry section at Chorley Flower Show this coming weekend.
(How exciting!)
The theme is Best in Lancashire !
And I am so looking forward to seeing what is created with my flowers!

Then the field will rest!

šŸ˜• This will unfortunately mean no flowers available on the flower stall this weekend.

šŸŒ» The flowers will be back refreshed in time for the Pick Your Own Bouquet gift voucher sessions throughout August.

ā˜€ļø PYO events in August are going live on event brite this week. (I will message those that have already enquired with details first)

This months Flower Club was filled with summer blooms.

We had a wonder in the flower field
Picked and snipped our blooms and then got creative making a summer arrangement. The British weather wasnā€™t on our side so we headed into the studio!

Calendula tea (picked and dried from the field) and a Hibiscus infusion was this months chosen teas.
We chatted about other uses of the flowers, such as medicinal properties and what plants were edible. And how to use flowers not just for arranging.

We collected seed from sweet william and corncockle and each lady was able to take seed home for their own gardens. To direct sow now for late spring flowers next year.

My 6 lovely ladies, some with flower experience before others very new to cut flowers all made beautiful colourful arrangements. All completely different!

A real mix of British cut flowers grown here in Lancashire, no air miles, no chemicals !
Full of colour and scent
