Having been in business for over 11 years, we must be doing something right. Year after year, we continue to grow, build our reputation, and reach new customers through the quality of our work and commitment to excellent service.

On this particular job, we attended site following an alarm activation indicating that the station pumps were not operating correctly. Upon arrival, the pumping station chamber was tankered down to allow safe access and inspection of the equipment.

Both pumps were lifted from the chamber and thoroughly inspected. During the investigation, a build-up of ragging was found obstructing the pump impellers, preventing them from operating efficiently. The rags were carefully removed, and the pumps were cleaned before being reinstalled.

Once reinstalled, the pumps were fully tested to ensure correct operation. Both units started, ran, and discharged as expected, with the pumping station returning to normal working order. The chamber was left operational, and all systems were confirmed to be functioning correctly before leaving site.

No gimmicks just honest work.

This is a severe fat, oil and grease (FOG) build-up within a drainage system. Clearing blockages like this is a challenging and time-consuming task, often requiring specialist equipment and expertise to fully restore flow.

In commercial kitchens, restaurants, takeaways, and food preparation areas, grease traps play a vital role in preventing fats, oils and grease from entering the drainage network. Without properly installed and maintained grease management systems, these substances cool and solidify within pipework, gradually restricting flow until a complete blockage occurs.

The result can be costly emergency call-outs, business disruption, unpleasant odours, flooding, environmental issues, and potentially expensive repairs to damaged drainage infrastructure.

Regular maintenance and effective grease management are far more cost-effective than dealing with the consequences of a major blockage.

If your commercial premises require drainage maintenance, grease trap servicing, or emergency blockage clearance, our experienced team is here to help.

A great before-and-after example of a severely blocked manhole that our team recently cleared.

Years of accumulated debris, silt, grease, and waste had significantly restricted the flow, increasing the risk of blockages, flooding, and costly drainage issues. Following a thorough clean and clearance, the chamber was restored to full working order, allowing the drainage system to flow freely once again.

Regular inspection and maintenance of manholes and drainage systems can help identify problems before they become major issues, saving both time and money in the long run.

If you're experiencing slow drainage, recurring blockages, or require a drainage inspection anywhere in Kent, get in touch with our experienced team today.

Yes, our sewerage infrastructure is ageing and, in many areas, requires significant investment, refurbishment, repairs, and upgrades to meet current demands. However, the problem is being made considerably worse by the disposal of inappropriate items through toilets and drains.

Many blockages and sewer failures are caused by products that should never be flushed, including wet wipes, sanitary products, nappies, cooking fats, oils, grease, and other household waste. These materials do not break down in the sewer system in the same way as toilet paper and can accumulate over time, leading to severe blockages, restricted flows, flooding, environmental pollution, and costly repairs.

While modernising and maintaining our ageing sewer networks is essential, reducing the amount of unsuitable waste entering the system is equally important. By only flushing the three Ps – p*e, poo, and paper – and disposing of all other waste correctly, we can help protect the sewer network, reduce the risk of blockages, and minimise the need for expensive emergency repairs.

Don't be deceived by the size of the cover at ground level—some manholes can be surprisingly deep. Beneath the surface, they may provide access to drainage systems several metres underground, making safe access and specialist knowledge essential.

28/05/2026

Fat, oil, and grease are one of the most common causes of drainage problems — and one of the most preventable.

What may seem like a harmless act, such as pouring leftover cooking fat, grease, or oil down the sink, can create serious issues within a drainage system over time. While the liquid may disappear quickly down the plughole, it does not simply wash away. As the grease cools inside the pipework, it begins to solidify and cling to the internal walls of the drains.

Over time, these deposits continue to build up. Food waste, wipes, debris, and other materials then become trapped against the grease, gradually restricting the flow of water through the system. Eventually, this can lead to stubborn blockages, slow-draining sinks, overflowing gullies, backups within properties, and persistent foul smells coming from drainage lines.

In more severe cases, accumulated grease can contribute to major obstructions within main sewer systems, sometimes forming large masses commonly known as “fatbergs.” These blockages can cause extensive damage, flooding, and costly repairs for both homeowners and commercial properties.

The problem is particularly common in kitchens, restaurants, food preparation areas, and households where oils and fats are regularly disposed of incorrectly. Even small amounts poured down the drain repeatedly can accumulate into significant issues over time.

Proper disposal is essential. Allowing fats and grease to cool before placing them into a suitable waste container rather than washing them into the drainage system can help prevent expensive drainage repairs and ongoing maintenance issues in the future.

When it comes to drainage, prevention is always better than dealing with the consequences of a blocked or contaminated system later on.
