🛠️ Big Flue Replacement in Progress! 🛠️

Great teamwork on-site recently, collaborating with the top-tier crew at Lucas Plumbing & Heating to complete a heavy-duty commercial flue replacement in an energy centre.

Handling large-scale flue systems requires serious precision, proper material-handling kit, and a bit of elbow grease—though as you can see, we still manage to have some fun while lifting the heavy stuff! 😜

🚨 When the rats start doing the plumbing… 🐀💧

Called out to a water leak that initially looked like a fairly straightforward repair.

Except… the leak wasn’t coming from one place. 😳

Turns out the plastic pipe fittings had been chewed through by rats! 🐀🦷

With water escaping into the ceiling and walls, I had to access 4 different points around the property. Every time one leak was repaired, another mysterious trickle of water appeared somewhere else.

It was basically Whac-A-Rat: Plumbing Edition! 😂🔧

And with the recent dry weather/drought, it looks like the rats have been doing a bit of extra foraging elsewhere for water… unfortunately, they decided the plumbing system was the local watering hole! 💧🐀

Eventually, all the damaged sections were repaired and the water supply was back under control. 💪

A good reminder that sometimes a water leak isn’t just a failed fitting — you’ve got to find out WHY it failed in the first place.

Not all heroes wear capes... some just fix hellish nightmares. 🛠️🔥

Another company went out to look at this boiler, saw that the flue had separated in the loft, and immediately condemned/disconnected the system. They basically said, "Nope, too hot, too scary," and left the customer stranded in the middle of a brutal heatwave. 🥵
That's when the customer called Thermotec.
When we opened the loft hatch to inspect the damage... well, we finally found out why the last guys ran away.

Turns out a separated flue combined with this summer heat doesn’t just mess up your ventilation—it opens a literal gateway to the underworld. 💀
While the other company saw a portal to hell and backed away slowly, we grabbed our tools, ignored the glowing runes, told the demons to pipe down, and successfully repaired the flue!
The boiler is safely back up and running, the loft is sealed, and the customer can finally cool down.
