Our team has been busy up in the loft on a major system upgrade in the St Albans area.

As you can see in the photos, we are cutting out the ancient, heavily insulated pipework and rusty old gate valves. We are replacing them with brand new 108mm flanged lever valves for ultimate reliability.

Working with pipes this massive requires industrial-grade press-fit tooling and precision cutting with our 40V Makita bandsaw. The new press-fit collars and flanged connections guarantee maximum system integrity and a much longer lifespan. It is dusty, heavy work up in the rafters, but the final result is a bulletproof system built to last.

Thousands of litres of water resting on a rotting foundation is a disaster waiting to happen.

We responded to a massive emergency call out today at a commercial block of flats. The plant room was flooding, and the culprit was hard to miss. The huge sectional cold water storage tank, which feeds five critical booster pumps for the whole building, had cracked under immense pressure.

When you look underneath, you can see exactly why this emergency happened. The original installation relied on inadequate timber and steel supports that have completely rotted and collapsed into mush. You cannot put tonnes of water on a weak base. The tank panels eventually flexed, bowed, and snapped.

the team got straight in there today to inspect the damage and stop the situation from getting worse. We have now fully surveyed the setup and quoted for a complete replacement storage tank. This time, it will be installed with a heavy duty, compliant structural base to keep the residents' water supply safe and secure for the long haul.

Tree roots versus underground pipes: spoiler alert, the roots usually win. 🌳🚧

We were recently called out to a local pub to investigate a completely failed cellar gully. The culprit was heavy root ingress. The roots had caused such severe cracks and damage that the old drain line was crushed and totally beyond repair.

When a pipe collapses like this, a full replacement is the only option. We carefully lifted the block paving, excavated the trench, and installed a diverted drainage system.

Because this is high level drainage sitting close to the surface, we embedded the new pipework entirely in concrete. This is a crucial step. Backfilling with solid concrete creates a tough protective barrier to stop any accidental mechanical or physical damage to the drainage system from above. It also completely prevents the pipework from moving or settling over time.

Once the concrete was set, we re-levelled the ground and relayed the block paving perfectly. We always aim to leave the site looking like we were never even there!

A local gym manager called us in an absolute panic a few weeks ago. Their old heating setup had completely failed right during their busiest season. Members were unhappy, complaints were rolling in, and the pressure was on. They needed a bulletproof solution fast.

We stepped in and designed a custom system that could handle serious demand. We installed three powerful Baxi 800 boilers alongside a massive bank of hot water cylinders to guarantee an endless supply for the changing rooms.

In these photos, you can see us tackling the most intricate part of the job: the wiring. We are connecting all the thermostats and zone valves. Those neatly labelled white cables are the brains of the operation.
