🚐💙 MY TRAVELS ACROSS THE UK 💙🚐

As many of you know, I have been travelling around the country, living off-grid and speaking to people face to face about the reality of life in our towns and communities.

One place that has stood out to me is Whitby. During my travels, I spoke to local people who told me firsthand about the struggles many are facing. The conversations I've had have been heartbreaking at times, with concerns raised about mental health, loneliness, isolation and people taking their own lives.

It is clear that more support is needed before people reach crisis point.

I want the people of Whitby to know that they have not been forgotten. Your voices have been heard, and I will continue raising awareness wherever I travel.

Whitby people matter. Whitby lives matter. Mental health matters.

Together we need to look after one another, check in on friends, family and neighbours, and make sure nobody feels they are facing their struggles alone.

💙 FANTASTIC NEWS FOR WHITBY 💙

The Penny Hedge in Whitby, who supported us throughout the winter months, have now launched their own charity initiative to help people in our communities. This is brilliant to see and shows what can be achieved when local people and local businesses step up to make a difference.

If you're in the area, please get involved, pop along, support the event, and if you can, take a food donation for their foodbank. Every little bit helps those who are struggling.

A huge thank you to everyone at The Penny Hedge for the support you've shown and for continuing to make a positive difference in people's lives.

PUBLIC STATEMENT TO ALISON HUME MP

Im trying my hardest guys!

Dear Alison Hume,

I am writing on behalf of many people who feel their voices are no longer being heard.

Across our towns and cities, we are seeing rising levels of homelessness, poverty, mental health struggles, addiction and su***de. Young people, working-age adults and pensioners are all being affected. More people are relying on food banks, more people are struggling to pay bills, and more people are reaching crisis point before receiving support.

Through my work with Squeeky Clean Scarborough Mental Health Awareness & Community Support Services, I have spoken directly with people who are homeless, people battling mental health issues, people struggling with addiction, and people who feel completely abandoned by the systems that are supposed to help them.

Many people are asking the same question: why are we waiting until someone is in crisis before support is offered?

We need stronger mental health services, better homelessness prevention, more addiction recovery support, and greater investment in local communities. We need early intervention, not simply reacting after lives have already been damaged.

This should not be a political issue. It is a human issue. Every person deserves dignity, support and the opportunity to rebuild their life.

I urge all elected representatives, local authorities and decision-makers to acknowledge the scale of these challenges and work together to find practical solutions that genuinely improve people's lives.

We have also emailed local representatives and decision-makers regarding these concerns because the issues being raised are not isolated incidents. They are problems being witnessed daily by people living and working within our communities. We believe these concerns deserve urgent attention and open discussion.

The people struggling in silence deserve to know they have not been forgotten.

I've had my phone switched off for the past 3 days, and I've come back online to see councillors and MPs all over Facebook on a Sunday.

It's good to see them engaging with the public, but if I'm honest, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

The reason is simple: the root problems affecting our communities have been there for years. Homelessness, mental health struggles, poverty, vulnerable people being left behind, and communities crying out for support. They know these problems exist, yet I rarely see anyone addressing the causes or having honest conversations about them.

People are struggling every single day, and many feel forgotten.

This is exactly why I continue doing what I do through Squeeky Clean Scarborough Homeless Mental Health Awareness Community Support Service. We will continue raising awareness, supporting vulnerable people, and speaking up for those who feel they have no voice.

What has our country come to?

Seeing pensioners struggling on our streets is heartbreaking. After a lifetime of work, nobody should be left feeling forgotten, isolated or without the support they need.

Hearing that pensioners are having to rely on food banks just to get by is horrendous. These are people who have worked, paid into the system, raised families and helped build our communities. No pensioner should be worrying about where their next meal is coming from.

Every day we're seeing more people facing hardship – young people, families, veterans, and pensioners who should be enjoying their later years with dignity and security.

This isn't about politics. It's about people. It's about looking after the vulnerable in our communities and making sure nobody falls through the cracks.

If you see someone struggling, stop and have a chat, offer kindness, and point them towards support where possible. Small acts of compassion can make a huge difference.

Together we can build stronger communities and make sure people know they are not alone.
