Capping. Keeps cables safe and held under the surface of a wall so that it can be safely plastered. Prevents damage to cable.

House full of spotlights previous difficult to keep matching brightness and colour temperature. Now fully adjustable with a simple pair of switches.

Which of these multi tools is best? Fein or DeWalt? Guess which one broke first despite a huge price difference!

Trades don’t you just love a nice cuppa while the sun is starting to come out? Just before heading back for more channelling, wiring and graft!

One thing I’ve noticed over the years…

A lot of homeowners assume that if the lights work and the sockets work, then the electrics must be fine.

Unfortunately many electrical issues are hidden behind walls, ceilings and floors and only become obvious once something starts tripping, overheating or failing completely.

Quite often we find:
• loose connections
• overloaded circuits
• older fuseboards
• DIY additions
• hidden junctions buried under floors

…that have apparently “worked fine for years”.

Electrical systems usually give warnings slowly rather than all at once.

Thinking of changing to electric and keeping the orange brand theme going. Do you like? What’s your thoughts?

One thing I’ve noticed over the years…

A lot of home buyers assume the house survey tells them whether the electrics are safe.

In reality, most surveys only recommend that the electrics are checked further by a qualified electrician.

Unfortunately some buyers only discover hidden electrical problems AFTER moving in, when negotiating power has already gone and repair costs become their responsibility.

Things like:

old hidden wiring

overloaded circuits

outdated fuseboards

DIY electrical alterations

…often aren’t obvious visually.

I’ve recently put together a dedicated page specifically for Home Buyer Electrical Inspections in Sheffield explaining some of the things buyers should ideally know before committing to a purchase.

Interesting how many people moving home don’t realise this stuff until much later in the process.
