Why do sites use large diesel generators when average power demand is surprisingly low? ⚡
Tower cranes draw power in short, sharp peaks. A generator needs to respond quickly enough to prevent voltage drops that could trip the crane and stop work.
That often means choosing a much larger generator, which then spends most of the shift running at low load, burning fuel.
Battery and hybrid power can supply those peaks, allowing a smaller generator or limited grid connection to support the job, reducing fuel use, emissions and costs.
