🏡 New Project Spotlight – Walton, Wakefield
We recently completed a traditional lime mortar repointing project on this beautiful Yorkshire stone property in Walton, Wakefield.
The existing cement mortar was carefully removed and replaced with a breathable lime mortar more appropriate for a period building. Not only has this improved the appearance of the stonework, but it will also help the masonry manage moisture as originally intended.
Many historic and traditional properties across Yorkshire have been repointed with cement at some stage, often leading to trapped moisture, stone decay and unnecessary long-term damage.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧, 𝐖𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 told a familiar story: hard cement mortar trapping moisture, slowly damaging the stone beneath.

𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭.

Cement carefully removed.
Breathable lime mortar reinstated.
Stone protected — not patched over.

Older buildings are designed to breathe. When you block that movement, problems don’t take long to follow. Using lime restores that balance, allowing the building to dry out, move naturally, and last as it should.

⏳ Time doesn’t damage buildings - 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐨.

Behind the surface, this wall told its story: cracked masonry, hard cement repairs trapping moisture, and stone that needed care, not replacement.

So we went back to basics.
Stone and Brick repaired with lime mortar stone repair, not modern shortcuts.

Every repair was done to move naturally with the building, allowing it to breathe, dry out, and last for generations, exactly as it was originally intended.

✔️ Traditional lime mortar used throughout
✔️ Finished to blend seamlessly with the original fabric
