Some real shoddy work from a kitchen fitter who undoubtedly wasn’t gas safe registered. Shoddy pipework and soldering resulting in a gas leak within the property.

Thank you kindly whoever just wiped my wing mirror out on Parker Terrace Ferryhill. Really appreciate the fact you didn’t have the common courtesy to stop and give your details and have just carried on your merry way. I hope your wing mirror came off worse.

The house I’m working in have cameras out the front so hopefully I’ll get your plate. You will be shamed 😘

Had my first rogue landlord for quite awhile today.

No gas safety check for property - gas leak and meter capped by NGN I’m asked to attend to find the leak. Do a tightness test no leak, landlord keeps ringing me changing story every time. Then I find out another engineer has already attended this morning and fixed the leak. But they never reinstated the gas as the gas meter is still capped off. Why fix a leak and not reinstate the gas?? The leaks from the cooker apparently which is incorrectly installed. All I hear from the landlord is cost cost cost - defo sending engineers there trying to get stuff done for nothing.

Red flag after red flag. I’ve not walked from a job for a long long time but today was the day.

If you live in a rented property you require a gas safety certificate.

This is worth a re-share. ....

According to the Gas Safe Register, a third of homes do not have yearly gas safety checks. And over 3 million homes have NEVER had their boiler serviced 🤯
Here's some reasons why you should get your boiler checked regularly.

🔥 Keeps your family safe
There could be a fault with your boiler that is going unnoticed. An annual service helps prevent fires, explosions, gas leaks, and carbon monoxide poisoning by finding faults and putting them right before they lead to serious problems.
Carbon monoxide is deadly and undetectable without a Carbon Monoxide detector. So make sure you have one installed near your boiler as well as getting a regular service.

🔥 Reduces your energy bills
When a boiler isn’t serviced, it begins to lose efficiency which has a knock-on effect on your gas bill. An annual service keeps your boiler in top condition, helping to prevent heating fuel wastage and keeping your energy bills in check.

🔥 Can Save money on costly boiler repairs
A boiler service is a relatively low-cost expense each year. However, if your boiler breaks down and needs to be repaired or replaced, that can be an expensive problem. Regular maintenance work improves the reliability of your heating system and reduces the chances of needing a costly repair down the line.

🔥 Keeps your guarantee valid
If you have a new boiler, your guarantee will often be invalidated if you don’t have annual services. Most manufacturers require a Gas Safe engineer performs a yearly boiler service or any repairs needed won’t be covered by the guarantee.

🔥 Keeps your business legal if you’re a landlord
If you’re a landlord, you are legally required to get an annual gas safety certificate by a Gas Safe engineer. This certificate proves that all boilers, pipework, flues and gas appliances in your rented premises have been checked, repaired, and maintained in a safe condition.

If you’re paying for boiler cover, you probably don’t need to be. Year after year, research finds that monthly boiler cover payments typically add up to more than paying for an annual service, plus any repairs when needed.
Boiler Services are £70. Attached are screenshot of British Gas boiler cover with a basic one being £19 per month. That is £228 per year. You would be saving £158 per year by cancelling your monthly boiler cover payments and getting an annual boiler service carried out by a Gas Safe engineer.
