🌳Tree health assessment🌳
Whilst assessing other works on site, our Tree Surgery team identified Meripilus giganteus fruiting at the base of this large Beech tree.
Meripilus is a significant decay fungus associated with the root system of Beech trees. It can cause extensive root decay, potentially compromising the tree’s stability and, in severe cases, leading to complete tree failure.
Root damage and stress caused by excavation, groundworks, soil compaction and other disturbances within the rooting area can increase a tree’s vulnerability to decay.
The tree will now undergo a more detailed assessment to determine its condition, stability and the appropriate next steps.
A good example of why professional tree assessment is about much more than what can be seen in the canopy🌳
