On 25 September, friends and past pupils of Kylemore Abbey will come together for a special fundraising event in support of preserving this very special place for future generations.

We’re delighted to make a contribution towards the event and to continue our support for Kylemore Abbey, a place with which Carey Building Contractors has a long and proud connection. We wish all the Friends and Past Pupils taking part in the fundraising event every success and enjoyment.

End of the Summer Party!

Yesterday evening, we stepped away from the hard hats for a few hours as we set sail on the Corrib Princess and headed up the river and onto Lough Corrib.
It was a chance to relax, catch up, enjoy some good food and celebrate the people who make Carey Building Contractors what it is.

It’s been a busy year so far, and this was a well-earned evening together!

What a fantastic final day it was last Friday at the Connemara Pony Show - Clifden and High Performance Class!

We were delighted to be involved as a co-sponsor of this special event, celebrating the exceptional Connemara Pony and the people who dedicate so much time, skill and passion to the breed.

Congratulations to all the competitors, organisers, volunteers and everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Heritage Week 2026 – Benedictine Monastery, Kylemore
Building a new Monastery for the Benedictine Order at Kylemore Abbey wasn’t just about preserving heritage in design, in the form of the traditional craftsmanship and historic monastic principles, but also about continuing to preserve the environmental heritage of the site.

Located within a Special Area of Conservation, enormous care had to be taken to ensure the delicate habitat surrounding the site, was preserved and protected.

Heritage Week 2026 – Gort n gCloch, Clifden
When a building has served the community as long as St. Joseph’s Convent and School in Clifden, it becomes part of the built heritage of the locality and landscape.

Today, conserved and protected, it continues to serve the community by providing social housing, having been internally converted to apartments.

Heritage Week 2026 – Westport Convent Regeneration
This year’s theme for Heritage Week is “Heritage at Risk” and this resonates with quite a few of our Projects, including one we are currently working on namely the Regeneration of the Westport Convent of Mercy site for Mayo County Council .

This site was built to serve the community back in 1842 and the buildings will be preserved and repurposed to continue to serve the community into the future as civic and community spaces.
