We're proud to be sponsoring Troy, an assistance dog in training with Assistance Dogs New Zealand Trust 🐾💙

Troy has had a big couple of months, showing impressive progress while navigating a few setbacks along the way. From mastering calm "down stays" (despite some very creative distractions!) to confidently settling in busy public environments, he's developing the essential skills needed to support someone's independence.

It hasn't all been smooth sailing, Troy also took some time out to recover from kennel cough and surgery, but he's bounced back to his happy, resilient self and is now preparing to begin formal training.

We're excited to follow Troy's journey as he takes this next step. Every milestone brings him closer to making a meaningful difference in someone's life, and we're proud to play a small part in that.

Looking forward to sharing more updates as he progresses 🐕‍🦺

We're proud to be participating in the Love Grace Handbag Appeal, donating a range of women's products, including all handbags and their contents to Women's Refuge.

Each handbag represents more than a donation. It's a gesture of dignity, care, and support for women taking courageous steps to leave abusive relationships and rebuild their lives.

We're honoured to stand alongside organisations making a difference and to support women in our community when it matters most.

Project Highlight: NZ Blood Laboratory Fit-out Design Coordination.

New Zealand Blood Services required a state-of-the-art specialist laboratory to meet growing healthcare demands. Veron was engaged to coordinate stakeholders and consultant teams, delivering construction documentation within a tight four-month timeframe. This involved integrating the new facility within an existing warehouse.

We implemented an agile design process after the client requested to allow for certain decisions to be deferred until onsite validation. This flexibility enabled us to provide timely solutions for issues discovered during construction, keeping the project on track. Regular site inspections and coordination meetings facilitated seamless communication and collaboration, allowing us to address emerging issues promptly.

To meet the accelerated schedule, we developed and maintained a rigorous project plan, tracking progress against key milestones. Through effective management and problem-solving, we successfully delivered the specialist laboratory facility, meeting the urgent needs of New Zealand Blood Services.

Services provided by Veron:
- Gap analysis for building consent and construction set of documents and resulting advice
- Management and coordination of the design process
- Construction monitoring

🚀 Project Update: Ward 22, Middlemore Hospital

As part of the ongoing upgrade works at Middlemore Hospital, our team at Veron was engaged to provide specialist advice on the external envelope of an existing 80-year-old building in urgent need of an upgrade. The project was challenged by budget constraints and tight timeframes, given the hospital's active environment.

Utilising our expertise in building envelope performance and innovative drone technology, we collaborated closely with the client to develop a targeted repair strategy. This approach extended the building's lifespan without necessitating a full cladding replacement. The result? Significantly reduced repair costs and a shortened project timeline, allowing the new facility at Ward 22 to become operational with minimal downtime for current patients.

🔧 Services Provided by Veron:

▪ Drone Survey
▪ Building Condition Survey
▪ Architectural design
▪ Timber remediation inspections and reports
▪ Council liaison re: schedule 1 maintenance works

We are proud of the successful outcome and the opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of Middlemore Hospital's facilities 🏥

🏚🌧 Weathertightness issues have been the source of countless legal claims and the stress of many a homeowner.

Leaky buildings and weathertightness issues differ from general building construction issues in that it relates to the unplanned ingress of external water and the often subsequent damage. Historically 'leaky building' claims were associated with common monolithic claddings such as:

- Texture-coated fibre cement sheet (direct fix and cavity construction)
- Solid plaster (Stucco)
- External insulation and finish system (EIFS): 'Poly'

However in our experience weathertightness issues are not limited to monolithic claddings with failure experienced in timber weatherboards, concrete blockwork, and metal composite panels.

Often due to the time it takes for water to cause damage top internal finishes, homeowners are not aware that their home is suffering from leaks until their home has considerable damage.

We believe the process of identifying if cladding is leaking requires a careful and thorough investigation. This starts with a visual inspection and may include invasive and destructive testing together with laboratory analysis of timber and cladding samples.

For many home or building owners, this is only the start of the process. The next step may be the remediation required to remedy the defective cladding and remediate any damage to the underlying timber structure. This will likely require a robust scope to repair, design plans and specifications, and building consent.

We can offer expert investigation, reporting, and advice on effective repair. For more information or an obligation-free chat contact us
