The cheapest solar quote is not always the cheapest system!
We've seen two quotes for the same Auckland roof: one at 8 panels with a 10-year warranty and scaffolding excluded, one at 16 panels with a 25-year warranty and scaffolding included. On paper, the first looks like the bargain. Over 25 years, it isn't even close.
Most people get solar quotes backwards, they fill in three forms on three installer sites, then try to compare numbers that were never built to be compared.
We think it should start with one question instead: does solar actually stack up for your home?
Two houses on the same street can get completely different answers depending on roof direction, shade and how you use power during the day.
And sometimes the honest answer is no. Heavy shade, a roof due for replacement, low daytime use, we'd rather tell you that upfront than make solar look good on every house.
Our new guide covers how to compare quotes properly, plus the three questions to ask any installer before you sign. Link below 👇
