The 2am phone call.

Tree down on the road? I'm usually first on the list. If I don't pick up, it goes to Dale. Sorry mate, happened again recently.

From there it's ringing round the boys to find a crew, sorting traffic control, a crane if we need one, all before sunrise.

We get to site, clear it, make it safe and get the road open. Then we come back the next day to do the job properly and assess if there's more work to do.

Middle of the night or middle of the day, same standard.

Not many tree companies can say this: we're ISO and Totika certified.

It's a tough one to get in this industry, only a couple of tree companies in the country hold it. That certification is what gets us onto sites that require that level of compliance before you're even through the gate.

Our specialty is responsiveness. Tell a client "yep, we'll be there" and then make it happen, nine times out of ten.

Quarter to six starts, yard first, then out to site.

Catch up on how the job's tracking, run the site inspection, check off the assets, get the risk assessment sorted properly before anyone picks up a saw.

Best part of the day? The drive between sites. Some of the views out there are hard to beat.

Back at the yard by 1 or 2, sort tomorrow's gear (and have the usual argument with the other managers about who gets what), then go home and do it all again.
