For the past five years, Civix has been applying AI to land development engineering. Not as an experiment, but on real New Zealand projects.

That experience now underpins both the technology we use today and the new tools we’re developing to help clients identify opportunities, understand constraints earlier, test development scenarios and make faster, better-informed decisions.

Level AI is already an established part of our engineering capability. Now, we’re building on that foundation with new tools designed to support more of the development lifecycle.

Some announcements mark the start of something new. This one makes official what’s been true for quite some time

We’re proud to officially announce Rob Mears as a Director of Civix.

Rob joined Civix back in 2020 as a Surveyor and quickly proved himself, progressing to Survey Manager and becoming a shareholder.

Not one to stay in one lane, Rob then headed back to his hometown of Christchurch taking on the challenge of building Civix’s presence in the South Island and growing our Christchurch team.

Since then, he’s continued to throw his hat in wherever the business needs him. Most recently that’s included stepping up to lead our Engineering team this year alongside his wider leadership across Civix.

And there’s another milestone on the horizon. Our Christchurch team has now outgrown its current space and will soon be moving into a new office to make room for the next stage of growth.

Rob’s journey from Surveyor to shareholder, business leader and now officially Director reflects a huge amount of hard work, adaptability and commitment to Civix and our people.

The title might only just be official on the books, but Rob has been playing the part for a long time.

Congratulations, Rob ... very well deserved. 👏

Another great consent outcome for our Planning team.

Civix has secured consent for a new dwelling and minor dwelling at 143 Edge Road, Whananaki – a stunning coastal site within the Rural Production Zone, Coastal Environment and an area of High Natural Character.

The proposal required changes to an existing consent notice to allow the new home to extend beyond the previously approved building envelope, along with a minor dwelling outside that envelope.

Working through the consent involved some detailed landscape considerations. A collaborative approach with Council’s planning and landscape teams helped reach an outcome that balances the protection of the coastal landscape and amenity with the architectural vision for the site.

We’re looking forward to seeing the designs by Lammas Overdyck Architects take shape in this setting and eventually seeing that view enjoyed for real 🤩

A great result for our clients and another example of what can be achieved through good planning, collaboration and persistence.

Earthworks are now underway at this residential development in Greenhithe, marking an exciting milestone as the project moves from planning and design into construction.

The Civix team is providing engineering and surveying services throughout the construction phase, working closely with the wider project team to support the delivery of three new freehold homes on the site.

Looking forward to seeing the project progress over the coming months and contributing to another quality residential development for the Auckland market.

We wrapped up June with a Good Deed that made a real impact 💚

As part of our 10 Years, 10 Good Deeds initiative, our team spent the day volunteering with Fair Food, an incredible Auckland charity rescuing surplus food and getting it to people who need it most.

Every single day, they redistribute around 2–2.4 tonnes of fresh food to more than 70 community organisations across Tāmaki Makaurau

It was a hands‑on, humbling experience and a great reminder of the difference organisations like Fair Food are making every day!

Huge thanks to the Fair Food team for having us - we loved being part of it 🙌
