A night to remember 🌿✨

Last night, The Plant People Ltd. came together at the beautiful Ellerslie Racecourse Events Centre for our Annual Awards Evening — a celebration of the incredible mahi, dedication, and values that drive our team across Aotearoa.
With many of our 110+ FTE strong team flying in from around the country — including a strong showing from our Christchurch crew who took home several key awards — we recognised excellence across a range of categories, including:

🌱 Values Awards
🌟 Apprentice of the Year & Young Leader Awards
😇 Special Awards - for those who contribute in commonly un-noticed ways
🏗️ Project of the Year
🛡️ The Memorial Shield – our highest honour, awarded to the individual who best lives and breathes our values

A deeply moving moment was the special recognition of Jamie Broadbent and Taei Poutoa, whose quick and calm response when our much-loved teammate Andy Culpan suffered a stroke on site earlier this year made all the difference. Thanks to their actions, Andy is now back at work and in great health — with his wife Lisa sharing her heartfelt thanks with the room 💚
Thank you to everyone who helped make this evening so special. We’re proud to celebrate the people who bring our business to life every day.

Mid-Year Safety Breakfast 2025 🧡🦺🥐

There’s nothing quite like starting the morning with good food, great company, and a shared commitment to safety 🙌
At our latest Team Safety Breakfast, we took a moment to reflect on the first half of 2025—and wow, what a team we have. From staying sharp on site to making smart, safe decisions on the road, our people continue to set the bar high.

This quarter, our discussions centered around keeping momentum strong as we head into the colder months. We looked at seasonal risks, refreshed our thinking around injury prevention, and shared some timely reminders about looking out for one another—because real safety comes from real care.
We also checked in on how we’re tracking with EROAD and celebrated the improvements we’re seeing in driving behavior across the board. A few shout-outs were given (you know who you are!), and as always, our team’s dedication left us proud and grateful.

Thanks to everyone who makes these breakfasts more than a meal—they’re a moment to recharge, connect, and keep safety front and centre. Here’s to another strong quarter ahead 💪

A stunning morning on site at Summerset Milldale ☀️

Our construction team has now completed about 80% of stage 2 and has commenced handover to our maintenance division.

This has been a really rewarding project with thoughtful detail and vibrant design for our team to implement. The villas and shared spaces in stage 2 have offered a simple yet quality-oriented scope, including paving, drainage, concrete pathways, beautiful gardens, and lush lawns.

It’s been a real pleasure working with Summerset Retirement Villages and the Milldale delivery team. We’re excited to see the overall project progress and can’t wait for the next one!

Our last Safety Breakfast of 2024 🦺 🍳

We are really proud of our exceptional team and their dedication to safety this year. These quarterly events are not only a great opportunity to express gratitude, but also to touch on important safety topics/themes

This time around our division managers focused on the importance of remaining healthy and diligent over the holiday period. We discussed some specific injuries and ways we can mitigate, manage and ensure process is followed should injury occur. We also covered our recent adoption of and what safe, positive driving behaviour looks like ⭐

Our Christchurch team are grateful to be supporting CORDE & Christchurch City Council on the City to Sea Pathway project. Soil rejuvenation and mulch in preparation for native planting - only a small (wet) window remains as we head toward summer!

Flock Hill Lodge - Luxury accommodation nested into a 36,000 acre working sheep station in Craigieburn Valley, Canterbury.

The Plant People have been working in this incredible location for the past 2.5 years - Contracted for all of the soft landscape, lawns, irrigation and majority of hardscape features. It's been really special collaborating with our client and other stakeholders on this project, and the team look forward to handover next year (but we will certainly will miss the views) ⛰
