Great to have 58 Unitec students join us at the Fletcher Building Campus for a hands-on learning experience last week.

Students heard from industry experts across Comfortech, Drispace, Firth and Sto NZ, covering everything from insulation to moisture management, foundation systems and plastering.

The highlight? Getting stuck into practical workshops, including plastering, warm roof construction, and tours of both the Comfortech and Firth Sims Road plants.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it such an engaging and valuable day for the next generation of builders.

Celebrating Award-Winning Architecture

At last years' New Zealand Architecture Awards, excellence across 29 projects in 11 categories, showcased the very best of the country’s architecture, with Firth once again playing a pivotal role, supplying award-winning projects and helping them achieve top honours.

BNZ Place, Wellington
Commercial Architecture Award
A 12-storey landmark designed by Jasmax, BNZ Place sets a new benchmark for seismically resilient A‑grade office space in Te Whanganui‑a‑Tara. With base isolation, sweeping harbour views, and a 6 Green Star Office Built v3 rating, it stands among Wellington’s safest and most sustainable commercial buildings.

Ngā Mokopuna, Victoria University of Wellington
Education Architecture Award
Designed by Tennant Brown Architects, Ngā Mokopuna (formerly The Living Pā) aspires to Living Building™ certification, one of the world’s most rigorous sustainability standards. Firth’s Declare‑labelled concrete helped support the project’s stringent environmental requirements.

We’re proud to support architecture that delivers performance, resilience, and sustainability, now and into the future.

A Moment of Connection

The best spaces are the ones that bring people together.

Inspired by classic European estate walls and gardens, Country Manor KeyKut retaining blocks create a beautiful stone-effect look for walls, columns, benches and BBQ areas, perfect for outdoor spaces made for gathering, relaxing and sharing time with others.

Because every great connection starts with the right space.

We are proud to support Hunters4Hope

Recently, we donated concrete to Hunters4Hope, helping improve their processing area so they can keep donating venison to families in need.

The new concrete pad will allow Hunters4Hope to process donated meat in a cleaner, safer, and more efficient environment, helping them work towards their goal of 20,000kg of donated venison this year, equivalent to 150,000 meals.

A big thank you to Adam Kreisel (Kreisel Contracting) and Steve, and our very own David Mortimer, who rolled up his sleeves and joined the team on the concrete rake.

Hunters4Hope turned a pest control problem into something incredibly positive, good quality meat, donated to whānau who need it most. We’re proud to support the mahi they do.

Join us at the ADNZ Technical Talk Series webinar
Specifying low carbon concrete and the challenges

📅7 May 2026
⏰12:30–1:30pm

Join us as Dene Cook, Technical Manager, explores the challenges and opportunities involved in specifying low carbon concrete.

With increasing industry focus on reducing Global Warming Potential (GWP), concrete specification is playing a critical role in delivering lower‑impact structures, while still meeting performance, durability, constructability, and cost requirements.

Designed for consultants, specifiers, and industry professionals, this webinar will help minimise risk, reduce ambiguity, and support better low carbon outcomes on projects.

Some places make us breathe deeper. Slow down. Feel free.

Tasman Coastal was inspired by those moments — referencing our coastline with a split‑face finish that reflects light and creates ever‑changing texture.

Made in New Zealand, using unique local aggregates, bringing that feeling of freedom to any project.

An internal training session was held at our Sims Road Plant, bringing together our Customer Services team, the Auckland sales team, and our engineering graduates.

The one‑day programme, delivered by Trevor Sawyer and Rob McKinnon, focused on the core principles of concrete, including mix design and applications, quality considerations, associated products, and the governance around when and how these products are incorporated. Jacinta also delivered an overview of Global Warming Potential (GWP) ratings, reinforcing the link between product knowledge and sustainability outcomes.

The session concluded with a plant tour and practical concrete testing, enabling participants to directly connect theory with operational reality.

Frank joined for part of the day and shared valuable perspective on the importance of truly understanding the materials we supply and the need to continue lifting our standards across the business.

A strong example of cross‑team collaboration and our ongoing commitment to knowledge sharing, capability development, and professional growth.
