Community gardens provide an opportunit

y to engage in a network that not only connects them to the community and food but also builds self-esteem and confidence. Having a working food garden in the community provides wonderful learning opportunities for people of all ages and from all walks of life. People can learn about food production, develop job skills, initiate food related business enterprises, and create links to nearby restaurants and food kitchens.

Matariki Winter Working Bee - Saturday 28 June 12pm - 2pm

As it's Matariki, it's the perfect time to turn the compost and tidy the best and connect over a shared love of gardening.

We'll be gathering at 12pm and music will commence at 1pm and warming soup will be served.

If you’ve got seeds, seedlings, or cuttings to share, feel free to bring them along. We’re also more than happy to welcome visitors who want to lend a hand. Just remember to bring your gardening gloves!

This event is supported by Eke Panuku Development Auckland along with a few other recent improvements around the garden:

New astro turf around the glasshouse and the picnic table
the picnic table itself
Repairing the glazing in the glasshouse that was recently damaged as well as making the doors slide easily again
Padlock on the glasshouse
Cleaning up and staining the planter boxes
Come on down and let’s make this a memorable day of gardening and friendship!
