How long does powder coating really last in NZ conditions?
Powder coating is durable, but in New Zealand, lifespan comes down to exposure. A building in Mission Bay ages very differently to one in Penrose.
Salt, UV, wind and moisture all wear at the coating over time. Inland surfaces can hold up for 15 to 25 years or more, while high-salt waterfront and high-rise sites often show breakdown in under 10 to 12.
We restore aluminium that was previously powder coated with advanced wet spray systems, bringing back protection when the original finish starts to fail.
