Are industrial air-to-water heat pumps the future of process heat in New Zealand?
For many applications, the answer is increasingly becoming yes.
As energy costs rise and businesses look to reduce carbon emissions, industrial heat pumps are emerging as one of the most effective solutions for:
✅ Process hot water
✅ Food & beverage manufacturing
✅ CIP systems
✅ Commercial heating
✅ Hospitals and aged care facilities
✅ Hotels and aquatic centres
Modern industrial heat pumps can deliver hot water temperatures up to 90°C, with high-temperature models exceeding 120°C while achieving efficiencies of 300% to 500%.
However, heat pumps are not the answer to every heating challenge.
Applications requiring high-pressure steam, very high temperatures, or significant peak-load flexibility may be better suited to a hybrid solution that combines heat pump technology with electric, biomass, or conventional boiler systems.
In our latest article, we explore:
• Where industrial heat pumps make sense
• Their key advantages and limitations
• New Zealand regulatory considerations
• Typical industrial applications
• When a hybrid heating strategy may be the best solution
At Tubman Heating, we focus on delivering the right heating solution for each application, whether that's heat pumps, electric boilers, biomass systems, steam boilers, or a combination of technologies.
