New truck. New ute. Ready for trench gear deliveries across the upper North Island!

You might notice a little more Guardian yellow on the road.

Our new Guardian truck and ute have both been freshly wrapped in Guardian branding and are ready to support Upper North Island teams with trench gear deliveries.

For civil contractors and project managers, having the right trench equipment is only part of the job. You also need a team that can get it where it needs to be and support you when project requirements change.

With the new Ute and Truck we are better able to service the region and get trench protection to site faster!

Modular box or trench shield? The right answer depends on the job.

When you're planning an excavation, choosing trench protection isn't just about what you've used before. Soil conditions, space, equipment access, live services and pipe size can all change which setup makes sense for your site.

That's why we've updated our Modular Boxes vs Trench Shields blog and added a new video to make the comparison easier.

Recovery winch or material winch? Knowing the difference matters.

If you're using a PRO 6G Davit Arm Kit on site, there is one distinction your crew needs to understand:

The recovery winch and material winch are not interchangeable.

The recovery winch is designed for personnel use, emergency recovery and fall arrest. It is not to be used for materials.

The material winch is for equipment and materials only. It must never be used for personnel.

For project managers, making sure the right equipment is being used for the right task starts with making sure your crew knows the difference.

Aluminium or steel trench shields? The right choice comes down to the job in front of you.

Weight, excavation depth, ground conditions, available machinery and the type of work being completed can all influence which trench shield is the better fit for your site.

One modular system. Multiple ways to protect your crew!

Got questions about Guardian Modular Trench Shields & Boxes? We've updated our FAQ blog and video with more of the practical answers you need when planning your next excavation.

The modular system gives you flexibility when the job isn't straightforward. The same lightweight aluminium panels can be configured as a 2-sided trench shield, 3-sided trench box or fully enclosed box, with different panel lengths available to suit different excavation requirements.

The updated FAQ covers questions including:

How deep can modular shields go?
What strut sizes are available?
How are the panels assembled and lifted?
Can you build 2, 3 or 4-sided configurations?
Can different panel sizes be combined?
What should you know before using them on site?

Your project has paused. Do you stand-down your trench shields or off-hire them?

The difference matters when you’re managing equipment and costs across a project.

Stand-down is for a short pause of up to 5 working days when you still need the equipment allocated to your site.

During the stand-down:

Your equipment stays allocated to your project
You pay 25% of your agreed hire rate
Guardian needs to be contacted before the stand-down starts so the dates and terms can be confirmed

Off-hire is different. If you’ve finished with the equipment and it’s being returned, it needs to be off-hired. Off-hire requests must be made in writing.

Knowing which option applies means everyone is clear on what’s happening with the gear and your hire charges when project plans change.
