The window tinting industry has been saying this for a few years now. The drive to keep houses warm is great but the design is problematic when no consideration, which is often cost lead, to keep homes from becoming hot houses. Once the sun hits the glass, the double glazing with Argon gas and low e coatings keeps heat in for which it is designed. For most of the North Island this glazing specification is not required. Particularly in Auckland where we have more warm days than cold over the year.
