With the excitement of the Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards still fresh, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the outstanding achievement of the Tātaki Auckland Unlimited Facilities Services Team – winners of the 2026 FM Team of the Year Award.

The judges commended the team’s strong culture of empowerment, diversity, and shared intelligence. Their use of rigorous reporting, transparent systems, and intelligent data to inform decision-making and enhance asset performance stood out, alongside a clear commitment to developing their people through meaningful career pathways.

It’s this same standard of excellence that has seen the team recognised on the global stage, with a Highly Commended in the 2026 Global FM Awards, reinforcing their place among the world’s leading facilities management teams.

As guest judge Stella Green. Green noted in her citation, “All of this is being achieved across a diverse and complex portfolio - spaces where communities gather, memories are made, and shared experiences unfold. They ensure their facilities operate safely, efficiently and reliably at the highest standard.”

Congratulations once again to the team at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited on this well-deserved recognition.

Before the spotlight hit the stage at the Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards, we experienced something truly special - an exclusive and intimate Tohu Talks session hosted by the charismatic Pio Terei.

The kōrero featured standout 2025 FMANZ Award winners: Ange Yannakis PFMANZ from Citycare Property - FM of the Year, alongside Jason Happy and David Curry representing AUT - Auckland University of Technology's Estates Group - FM Team of the Year and 2026 Global FM Platinum Award of Excellence recipients.

Angela reflected on nine years navigating some of Aotearoa’s most complex operational environments, sharing insights on leadership, growth, and the impact of national recognition.

Jason and David offered a behind-the-scenes look at the collaboration and capability that propelled AUT Estates Group from national success to the global stage.

Rich in honesty, humour, and insight, the session was a powerful reminder of the value facilities managers bring to their organisations and communities every day.

Ngā mihi to everyone who joined us in person and via livestream. Your presence helped make it a memorable and meaningful experience.

A special thank you to Mitre 10 New Zealand Trade for their support, and to Andrew Walker for joining the conversation.

Our Day of Celebration continues at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, where heritage, sustainability, and facilities management intersect.

Led by Richard Boyter and Karl Beaufort, this in-depth tour brought the Gallery’s complexity to life. Richard’s passion, care, and technical expertise shone through, highlighting the stewardship required to manage such a significant cultural asset.

Attendees explored the challenges of working with complex heritage elements alongside innovative systems supporting the Gallery’s decarbonisation journey, showcasing how FM underpins the preservation of art, architecture, and educational outcomes.

With the Gallery’s newer building previously recognised globally for architectural excellence, it’s fitting that its operations are supported by a world-class FM team, recently acknowledged with a Highly Commended in the 2026 Global FM Awards of Excellence.

A huge thank you to Karl Beaufort, Richard Boyter, and the wider team at Tātaki Auckland Unlimited for sharing this journey.

The momentum continues this afternoon with more Behind-the-Spaces tours, followed by the Tohu Talks featuring some of our 2025 FMANZ Award winners.

Then, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for - the Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards, where our 2026 winners will be revealed.

We look forward to seeing you there.
