Rising above what remains of 'Mud Mountain' from our earlier ground excavations, The Farmhouse is really taking shape with the roof trusses going up.

Seeing a project at this stage of the build is a truly special thing as everything feels like it's suddenly been brought to life, seemingly appearing out of nowhere across the previously empty paddock.

The roof trusses have arrived on site at The Farmhouse and with the dance of the two HIABs, been lifted atop the frames, ready to stand.

The team from Blue Steel Scaffolding & Wrap were also busy on site, installing our scaffold so we can push on safely.

All the frames are up now, awaiting the roof trusses to arrive at our Farmhouse project.

The steel beams have also been installed in areas where timber lintels (which support the weight of the structure above) can't span the distance - in this instance, above the garage door as well as in the central hub of the home to allow for sliding doors and a covered deck.

The large sliders will connect the home with its rural landscape and the pool area that is to come, while the deck acts as an extension to this main living area, creating extra space that can be used year round - perfect for entertaining.

The frames we built on-site weeks ago for The Farmhouse are now going up.

This is one of those moments when building a new house, where it suddenly feels like a lot of progress is happening really quickly.

The same amount of hard work is going in, but this stage is often much more tangible for the client, as they can start to see the bones of their home coming together after weeks of getting it out of the ground.

Here they can get a real sense of how the spaces flow from one to another, the size of the rooms and the views they will have.

Walking through the framing is hugely different to imagining the layout on architectural plans. Often it's at this point, where alongside your builder, valuable adjustments can be made - such as changing window heights and making minor tweaks to wall placements and entrance configurations, to ensure the end product aligns with your vision.

We’ve used Cain Built across a few different projects now both at our home and workplace.

Tim is the kind of builder you hope to find: friendly, professional, and genuinely fair.

His crew reflects the same values - conscientious, professional and easy to have on site.

Whether it’s a residential or commercial job, the quality and attitude have been consistent every time.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cain Built to anyone looking for a builder they can actually trust.

Pouring the concrete slab for the foundation is a monumental stage when building a new home.

It’s also a mammoth effort from everyone, both in the lead up and on the day.

Needing work as a well oiled machine to pour and power float the entire slab before the concrete set, 8 concrete trucks were lined up to roll in one after the other from 6am.

When one of the truck’s barrels stopped turning, the boom pump company’s mechanic (who by pure coincidence happened to be working the hose that day, due to being short staffed) saved the day, somehow managing to get the bowl spinning enough to offload the concrete with a bit of know how and a construction screw. It’s safe to say he earned the player of the day award.

Placing the concrete, Rob Callaghan and his crew of concrete layers all brought their A game and finished things off perfectly as always.

The expertise and energy on site made the early morning start not only manageable but enjoyable, for a day that had begun at 4.30am and at a frosty 1.9 degrees.

It’s the relationships we’ve built along the years, and in these moments, with people like this, that truly help pull a project all together and why we only use other trades we know and trust to not only do a great job, but to put their heart and soul into the projects we bring them in on.
