Is your roof leaking in several places?
Has your roof been repaired in the past but still giving you problems?
Is water coming through the ceiling causing excessive dampness?
Is your roof showing signs of wear and tear? Cracks, missing nails/screws, heavily rusted, damaged?

If you answered ‘YES’ to any one of these, it might be time to take your roof seriously. These signs indicate you may need to consider replacing your roof.

Summer roofing is a good way to prepare your roof for the winter season ahead.

Having your roof serviced in the summer season is a smart choice. Waiting to act only when issues arise in autumn and winter can be problematic and challenging.

Preparing for the wet winter before weather conditions sour is ideal. It allows roofers to carry out tricky work which would be difficult in wet conditions and helps in properly diagnosing and carrying out any roofing work without fear of disruption, delays, or poor weather.

Having your roof replaced, maintained, or repaired in summer will ensure that once autumn and winter come, you can rest easy knowing your roof is set to take on the elements.

If you are thinking of getting some work done on your roof, be it replacement, repair, or maintenance, get in touch with our friendly team today, and let us help sort out your roofing needs.

Do you manage or own a commercial property? When was the last time you had its roof assessed?

Should I invest in my roof?

Of all the parts that make up a house, possibly the most important piece is the roof. It does more than cover our homes and directly affects how we live comfortably.

First, your roof serves as a protective barrier against heat, rain, winds, and storms. Without a functional roof, all kinds of damage can happen inside the home. A proper roof protects against the elements regardless of the season.

Second, roofs play a role in heating and cooling. During the hot summer months, a good roof will reflect or keep the heat at bay and during the cooler winter months, the roof would help insulate the heat and help protect against the cold. Not surprisingly, a good roof can help lower the cost of heating and air conditioning bills while a poor one would only drive costs up.

Third, a good roof makes your house more appealing to the market. It shows that a property has been well-cared for, and a well-maintained roof assures potential buyers or investors that there is little to fear in issues that might arise during the rainy, winter months.

Is it worth investing in a good roof? We definitely think so. If you are looking at getting your roof replaced, repaired, or maintained, get in touch with our friendly team today and let us help sort out your roofing needs.

Owning a house could either mean you are putting down roots or are using it as an investment or sometimes both!

If you are looking to invest or sell your property, it is worth noting that the curb appeal of your house, that is, how it is viewed from the street plays a role in its value.

A clean, freshly painted, newly worked on and tidy house makes it more attractive and appealing to investors and buyers. The roof plays a big part in this as it not only serves functionally to protect the house, but its overall condition can entice or drive away attention.

If your roof is a few decades old or has not been serviced recently, it will be worth your while to have your roof inspected for any repair, maintenance, or even replacement work needed. Ensuring your roof is in peak condition will mean your roof functions as it should and if you are in the market to sell, makes your house even more attractive.

If you are looking to get some work done on your roof, get in touch with our team of experts today and let us help you with your roof repair, maintenance, or replacement work.

What can damage your roof?

There are many things that can damage your roof regardless of its type. Here is a list of the common roof issues that can affect the lifespan and performance of your roof:

Moss and Lichen
The growth of moss and lichen is a common issue that can damage your roof and hasten its deterioration. These growths eat away at the coating and roof material they adhere to weakening the roof material as it grows and spreads. Consider getting your roof cleaned and treated to remove and inhibit future growth.

Rust
Rust is another common form of damage that plagues metal roofs. Usually found in poorly maintained and neglected roofs, the paint has faded to the point that the bare metal has been left exposed to the elements. The natural chemical reaction with the exposed metal and moisture in the air results in oxidation that will eat away at the roof until leaks become an issue. Rust treatment and painting is one way to go if the material has not been completely oxidised otherwise check with your roofer for the best option for your roof.

Neglect
Simply forgetting about your roof and not conducting the proper cleaning and maintenance it needs can result in all kinds of damage depending on your roof profile. Some of the more common forms of damage include cracks, splitting, chipping, denting, and coating deterioration. Remedies can vary depending on the extent of the problem from repairs to replacements.

Work by inexperienced roofers/DIY attempts
Poor workmanship or attempted DIY efforts can also result in damaged roofs. A lack of tools, experience, and knowledge, or a combination of all three can worsen the problem if not done properly. If in doubt, it is best to leave it to the professionals.

Fortunately, Ascent Roofing is prepared to take on your roofing issues. Get in touch and let us help you with your roofing needs. Contact us at [email protected] or call us at 09 218 5046.

Spring is almost over, and we should soon see an increase in warmer and sunnier days that signal that summer has come.

Now is a great time to plan for all the fun summer activities but this is also a great time to plan for any work that needs to be done around your house.

Is your roof ready for summer?

It's easy to think that with dry hot weather you have nothing to worry about with your roof, but the truth is, the heat can also contribute to wear and stress on your roof without the need for rain.

Take advantage of the longer, clearer, and drier days to focus on the serious issues of your roof. Is your roof due for a replacement? Are there repair and maintenance works that need to be done and have been put off because of poor weather? Now is the best time to get your roof sorted before the next winter season.

Don’t delay your roofing summer plans. Make the most of the season and let us help you with your roofing needs.

Having professional roofers handle your roofing project also simplifies the planning, logistics, and project ex*****on of the work leaving you free from worry and hassle.

If your roof needs attention and requires replacement, repair or maintenance then get in touch with us today and let us handle your roofing needs for you. Contact us at [email protected] or call us at 09 218 5046.

How long does a roof last? The answer depends on 2 things: 1. What material is the roof made of? 2. How well-maintained is the roof?

The type of material used on your roof will play a role in its overall lifespan. Asphalt shingle roofs can last between 20-30 years, concrete tiled roofs can last between 30-50 years and metal roofs can last for about 40 – 50 years. But the roof's longevity also depends on the second point, how well maintained is the roof?

A brand-new roof all on its own can only do so much. A roof made of even the toughest material is not immune to wear, tear, and neglect. Proper care and maintenance are vital to make the most of your roof and help it keep functioning.

Keeping your roof and gutter clean is a great way to ensure your roof does not wear out quickly and helps extend your roof’s lifespan and functionality. Checking the condition of the flashings as well as looking out for tell-tale signs of deterioration or issues such as cracks, dents, and rust to name a few. Sorting out these issues before they worsen is also a key factor in keeping your roof in good shape.
