Recently we celebrated having Blake successfully complete his apprenticeship with Aotea Waikato. He is now awaiting EWRB registration following his time as an apprentice with us.
For 29 years, Aotea Waikato has invested in people — training, supporting, and guiding apprentices as they grow into skilled tradespeople. Blake’s journey is another proud milestone in that story.
Congratulations, Blake. Your dedication reflects the values we’re proud to stand behind.

🏌️‍♂️ Aotea Waikato Annual Golf Day 2026 ⚡️

What a day out on the course! We had 30+ players from across three Aotea branches — Hamilton, Taupō, and Te Kūiti — along with our mates from First Principles Constructors joining us for a brilliant day of golf.

The weather turned it on with a hot, blue‑sky day… perfect conditions to get everyone fully charged and swinging. Some teams were straight down the middle, others took the more “scenic route” — but either way, the banter was strong and the energy stayed above par all day.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and made it another great event. Already looking forward to next year’s round! 🤩🏆

At Aotea Waikato, safety isn’t a box we tick — it’s the way we work, every single day.

Our people are our greatest asset, and ensuring everyone goes home safe is always our top priority. From planning through to completion, safety is built into every step of the job.

We focus on clear communication, strong site planning, and making sure our team has the right training, tools, and support to work safely. Regular toolbox talks, hazard identification, and safe work practices help us identify risks early and manage them effectively.

We’re proud to back this commitment with recognised industry standards. Aotea Waikato has once again achieved Tōtika accreditation for 2026, and we continue to maintain our status as SiteWise Gold contractors — both important benchmarks that reflect the strength of our Health & Safety systems and the consistency of our practices on-site.

We also support our team through Trade Masters Construct Safe courses, which place greater emphasis on testing existing knowledge rather than simply providing information.

By looking out for one another, following safe systems of work, and continually improving how we operate, safety becomes part of our culture — not just a requirement.

At the end of the day, the goal is simple: everyone home safe and well.

🌟 Celebrating 3 Years as Aotea Waikato! 🌟

This month marks three years since RichmondBarr Electrical proudly became Aotea Waikato Ltd — and what an incredible journey it’s been. From where we started to where we stand in 2026, we couldn’t be prouder of how far our team has come as Waikato’s trusted Master Electricians.

What began over 29 years ago with one man and a van has grown into a strong, capable, and committed electrical business. In just the past three years alone, we’ve expanded from a single branch to a wider regional network — welcoming new branches in Taupō and Te Kuiti.

This growth is more than just geography. It reflects the development of our people, our capability, and the service we deliver across the Waikato every day.
Every challenge, every completed job, and every customer we’ve supported has shaped who we are. Our team continues to show pride, skill, and dedication — and that’s been at the heart of our progress.

Here’s to:
✨ Growth worth celebrating
✨ New branches and expanding horizons
✨ The people who make it all happen
✨ The opportunities still ahead

A huge thank‑you to our clients, partners, and community for your ongoing support.

We’re proud to serve the mighty Waikato — and we’re excited for what’s next.
Three years as Aotea Waikato — and many more to come. 💙💛

Another great training night here at Aotea Waikato! 🔧⚡

Last week, our own team stepped up and delivered a full round of in‑house training for some of the crew. A huge shout‑out to our skilled team members who shared their knowledge and helped lift everyone’s capability to deliver the highest level of service for our customers.

Also, a big thank you to JA Russell’s Te Rapa for providing food and drinks to keep our team alert and engaged.

We covered:

🔥 Hot Water Cylinder Training – our team ran through safe isolation, common faults, and best‑practice servicing.

🌡️ Thermal Imaging – learning from our own specialists on how to identify hotspots, uncover hidden faults, and use thermal cameras effectively onsite. We use this for clients' insurance requests as peace of mind for their electrical systems.

🔌 PAT Tester Training – reinforcing safe, accurate, and compliant testing procedures, led by our experienced technicians. Providing safe, compliant, and properly tagged assets for our clients is a great feeling—for our customers and for us!

📊 Data Logger Setup & Use – hands‑on guidance from our team on installing, monitoring, and interpreting data to help diagnose tricky electrical issues. Our in‑house data logger is used on commercial and industrial sites and can monitor electrical loading, harmonics, power factor, and voltage fluctuations. Reliable data logging gives our clients the insight they need to maintain safe, efficient, and resilient electrical systems.

It’s awesome to see our people teaching our people — building confidence, strengthening skills, and keeping everyone aligned with best trade practices.

Proud of the knowledge we have in‑house, and even prouder of how willingly our team shares it. 🙌

Our team of Hamilton electricians specialises in advanced electrical work for commercial and industrial properties, maintenance and installations.
