We've had some awesome interest from the media and the crowds at this year's Civil Contractors New Zealand CablePrice Waikato Bay of Plenty Excavator Operator Competition, held at Fieldays!

As featured on The Rock interview with CCNZ Waikato Branch Chair Sam Hooper Smith and competition organiser Vikkey Gonano this morning, heavy metal action is thrilling crowds at Mystery Creek today as elite Waikato and Bay of Plenty excavator operators battle for regional titles and a place at next year’s CCNZ CablePrice National Excavator Operator Competition grand final.

Fieldays is hosting 26 contenders across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regional excavator operator competitions from 11-13 June, captivating hundreds in attendance by pushing their excavators to their limits to tackle radical challenges of precision.

In the leadup to the Civil Contractors New Zealand CablePrice Waikato Bay of Plenty Excavator Operator Competition, the team thought they'd try something a little different - the 'battle of the bosses' where head honchos from different companies faced off to see if they had what it took on the competition course. Another great interview from Competition Organiser Greg Lumsden of Civil Contractors NZ - Manawatu-Whanganui Branch, who recapped the competition this morning on Newstalk ZB.

And it's official! Northland's Steven George has been named champion of New Zealand's national excavator operator competition following two days of intense battle behind the controls against New Zealand's regional champion excavator operators.

Steven won his second national title at the Civil Contractors New Zealand CablePrice National Excavator Operator Competition at Central Districts Field Days, representing CCNZ - Northland Branch and his business, Steven George Contracting.

To take the title he faced intense competition from CCNZ Hawkes Bay East Coast Branch champion Marcus Ingram of Galbraith EarthMovers Ltd, who took second place at the age of just 24, and Ryan Prankerd of King Road Contracting Ltd, representing Civil Contractors NZ - Taranaki Branch.
