People often think that more projects mean a stronger market. That is not always true. A market can have fewer projects and still be attracting bigger bets. That usually means money is becoming more careful, more focused, and more confident in specific opportunities. The lesson is simple. Do not judge a market by how busy it looks. Judge it by where real money is being placed. That is where future opportunities usually start to show themselves.

One of the most rewarding ventures I worked on began with a constraint. The site required a specific parking ratio to secure funding. Rather than treat it as a technical hurdle, we modeled it as a design driver. The circulation, façade rhythm, and massing logic evolved from that ratio. What looked like a limitation turned into identity. The investor appreciated how early design decisions influenced operational efficiency. The project proved that beauty can emerge from clarity in business. For architects who lead, data is not the enemy of creativity. It is its foundation.

There’s something powerful about seeing a landmark like the Sadik Grand Mosque rise in Zamboanga City.

Beyond its religious significance, a project of this scale can change how an area is perceived and experienced. It can draw people, encourage new businesses, improve surrounding infrastructure, and gradually influence land values and development patterns nearby.

What I appreciate most is how architecture can give a place a stronger sense of identity. When that happens, real estate often responds naturally around it.

I’m curious to see how this part of Zamboanga evolves in the years ahead.

Squint your eyes. A little more. There she is!

So far, this is the best shot I have of Mt. Mayon. She spent most of my visit hiding behind a sea of clouds, giving me just enough of a glimpse to prove she was actually there.

Apparently, there’s an old Bicolano belief that Mayon reveals herself to first-time visitors who are pure of heart.

Well… she showed me something. I’m counting it.

Maybe next time, Mayon. No need to be shy.
