There is something happening underground right now that most people never think about.

As air temperatures drop, the soil in the CSRA stays warm well into fall. Your plant's leaves and branches slow down for the season, but the roots don't get that memo. They keep growing, sometimes for months, while the top of the plant looks like it's resting.

That's why fall is a great time to plant. A tree or shrub planted in fall spends this whole season building a root system before it ever has to face next summer's heat. Spring-planted material doesn't get that luxury.

We break down exactly what that means for your yard, plus what to plant now and what to hold off on (it's also the first chapter of a bigger guide our team put together on fall garden decisions).

Get all of the information in our latest blog post: Why Fall Is a Great Time to Plant in the CSRA.

Fall's warm soil and cooling air give roots weeks to establish before summer heat. See why fall is a great time to plant in Aiken, SC.

Fall in Aiken comes with a lot of questions. Should you plant now or wait? Prune now or in February? Water more or less as it cools down? Fertilize, or leave things be?

Our team fields these questions from customers every single fall, so we put everything we know into one guide: What To Do (and What NOT To Do) in Your Aiken Garden This Fall.

Inside, you'll find the real answers, organized so you can find exactly what you need: fall planting and seasonal color, tree and shrub picks, the watering mistake we see more than any other, lawn care, pruning and fertilizing timing, pest watch-outs, and how to get your property ready for winter.

Fall is a great time to plant, because it gives roots months to establish before summer heat asks anything of them. This guide walks you through everything else you need to know to make the most of the season.
