💧 Why can some water-damaged materials be saved while others have to be removed?

It often comes down to where the water came from and what it may contain.

Category 1 (Clean Water) typically comes from a sanitary source, such as a broken water supply line. When addressed quickly, many affected materials can often be professionally dried and restored.

Category 3 (Black Water) is grossly contaminated and may contain harmful microorganisms. Sewage backups and certain types of floodwater are common examples.

Category 3 restoration often requires removing contaminated porous materials, thorough cleaning, and specialized drying procedures.
