Evolve Structural Design Elevated Engineering. Strengthening Mountain Communities.

08/28/2026

Taking shape on a challenging hillside site, this custom two story residence blends innovative engineering with modern mountain architecture. Designed to respond to the natural terrain, the home includes a two bay garage over main living spaces and lower level areas framed over crawl space. The 24 foot tall concrete retaining wall foundations incorporate soil nails and micropiles to stabilize the slope and structure, while above structural steel frames out expansive window openings, capturing unobstructed mountain views.

We were proud to be part of this pool, spa, and locker room renovation at the base of Snowmass. The transformation delivers an elevated guest experience through thoughtful design and enhanced amenities.

The locker rooms were completely refreshed with modern finishes and a contemporary aesthetic. Updated perimeter walls further enhance the property's appearance with a clean, revitalized look. The outdoor amenities also received significant upgrades, including a new hot tub, enhancements to the existing spa, and an expanded pool deck that creates more space for relaxation and gathering.

This refreshed space is sure to be enjoyed for years to come!

🔨 Project Update: Basalt Residences

Two new residences are taking shape side by side, contributing to a growing neighborhood in Basalt, Colorado.

Project One
This two story residence includes approximately 2,000 square feet of living space over a crawl space. The roof form, clean lines, and straightforward structural systems create an efficient design well suited to the narrow site.

The above grade structure utilizes conventional wood framing with a combination of sawn lumber, manufactured members, and roof trusses. Steel elements are incorporated where larger openings or specific structural requirements occur. Reinforced concrete crawl space walls supported by continuous footings provide the foundation.

This project reflects a deliberate structural approach that aligns with the architectural form to create an efficient and durable home.

Project Two
The second residence includes approximately 2,400 square feet of living space and a single car garage. Supported by partial basement and tall crawl space foundations, the home features second level decks on the north and south sides that extend living spaces and enhance connections to surrounding views. Solar integration includes flush mounted roof panels and a trellis mounted array adjacent to the home.

Conventional wood framing forms the primary structural system, while steel elements support larger openings. High capacity shear walls and hold down anchors provide lateral resistance for expansive glazing areas. Reinforced concrete basement walls on continuous footings support the structure above, and the garage is constructed as a durable slab on grade.

This project demonstrates a coordinated structural solution that supports a more articulated architectural expression while integrating modern building systems.

🏠 Project Completed!

This project reimagines an existing single-story home through a thoughtful remodel and a complementary addition on the east side. The design enhances functionality while maintaining the integrity of the original structure, with most exterior wall framing preserved and updated where needed to support new openings and updated spaces.

A key focus of the structural scope includes reworking the existing roof framing to introduce skylights and refine roof slopes, improving both natural light and overall performance. Updated expansive windows build on that approach, bringing in more light and opening views to the surrounding landscape. The foundation system is designed with reinforced concrete walls on continuous footings, paired with a slab on grade lower level to provide durability and long-term stability.

This project reflects a balanced approach to renovation where existing structure and new design come together to create a cohesive home.

🔨 Project Update: Carbondale Aquatics

What began as a rendering is now becoming a reality! This community project was made possible by the generous contributions to the "Make a Splash" campaign setup by the Carbondale Park & Recreation.

With the finishing touches underway, we look forward to this project opening mid-May and contributing meaningfully to the community it was designed to serve.
