AR Daniel Construction Services, Inc. completed a 650-LF., 96-in. EPB tunnel in Katy, TX as part of the West Harris County Regional Water Authority’s Surface Water Supply Project.
Working through lean to fat clay with silty sand seams, crews utilized an Akkerman WM96SC-II EPB System and 1548 Haul Unit to install 96-in. OD steel ring beams and lagging.
The tunnel plays a key role in delivering up to 150 million gallons per day of surface water to the North Houston Water Treatment Plant—supporting more than 100 miles of new transmission pipeline.
