I recently finished a few entertainment center build-outs. The black ship-lap was a first for me since it had a pitched ceiling and the ship-lap was laid at 45 degrees. This was a very fun project and the wood beam mantle and fireplace bring it all together. It turned out great and the homeowners love it!

The second one is a blue stained pine board T&G siding we put in our own cabin on lake delhi. It will be finished out with an electric fireplace and the other half of the wood beam mantle used in the one above. It’s not completed yet but so far looks great!

We want to remind our followers who are in the NE Iowa area or know anyone in that area to remain up to date with the weather for this afternoon and evening. Severe storms as there are enhanced risks for tornados, hail and damaging wind. There have been updates currently that wind gusts could exceed 80 mph as the storms form and intensify and a “Cornbelt Derecho” is being predicted. Following the storms if you or anyone you know has suffered any damage, please reach out to us and we will be happy to help.

Here at Behel & Mensen Construction we want to remind everyone to keep a close eye on the weather today throughout the afternoon and evening hours as some potentially severe storms will be rolling across the state. We advise everyone to have a plan in place in case the worst case scenario arises and we know first hand after the derecho of 2020 how fast these storms can approach and the damage they can cause. A plan for preparing, monitoring, and getting through the storms safely is the primary goal. Once the storms roll through you need to have a follow-up plan to deal with any damages and potential insurance claims and that’s where we can help! We can help you with all of your needs and if we can help you, we know contractors that can. We also recommend choosing a local contractor you know and/or trust because we’ve come across many contractor scams following the derecho and they are common after storms. So save yourself the headache and stress and give us a call or send a message if you need any repairs or damage assessments and we will take care of it all. Be safe and be vigilant!

One of the most satisfying rewards in Construction is seeing the ideas and visions of clients come to life. I just finished doing the interior finish work in a cabin next to ours on Lake Delhi. It was a completely unfinished cabin when they bought it last fall and now it’s ready for them to use and relax at. The interior finish work consisted of installing all the flooring, installing interior doors, base trim, window extension jambs, window/door trim, kitchen base cabinets, barn door, steel wanes coating, T&G Blue Pine on walls and ceiling and my favorite was the barn wood steps and the barn post! Thanks to Tyler Light for giving me the opportunity to do the work and I hope you enjoy the cabin! here are some During and After pictures.
