Ice storms are no joke. A little prep now can save you a lot of stress later. Here’s what to do before the ice hits ⬇️

1️⃣ Power outages are likely
Charge phones, power banks, and laptops. Have flashlights ready (not just candles). If you rely on medical devices, make a backup plan now.

2️⃣ Protect your pipes
Let faucets drip, open cabinet doors under sinks, and know where your main water shutoff is. Frozen pipes = expensive repairs.

3️⃣ Stock essentials
Food, water, meds, pet supplies, batteries. Plan for at least 48–72 hours without leaving home.

4️⃣ Prep your vehicle
Fill your gas tank, check antifreeze, keep blankets, water, and snacks in the car. Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary—ice is worse than snow.

5️⃣ Heat smart, not risky
Never use grills or generators indoors. Keep heaters clear of flammable items and don’t overload outlets.

6️⃣ Clear hazards early
Secure loose outdoor items and park away from trees if possible—ice buildup causes limbs and power lines to fall.

7️⃣ Check on others
Elderly neighbors, people living alone, and those with limited mobility may need help.

Bottom line:
Ice storms are about prevention, patience, and staying put. Prepare now, stay inside, and let crews do their work.

We are looking for an experienced roofing salesman to join our team at Southern Star Roofing.

We’re very well-established, we don’t knock on doors, we don’t chase storms, and we’re thankful that great leads come straight to our office. We service Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Greenville, SC.

A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, five star google rating, general contractors license, well insured, we provide a a brand new work truck, new iPhone, ladders, new laptop, equipment, paid days off, paid holidays, 4% match on retirement plan, and everything you need to succeed.

This job requires driving daily. Mostly Charlotte area but Asheville possibly from time to time. It’s a Monday - Friday job with flexible scheduled appointments.

Your job is to sell roofs and manage the project. We will train you.

Must have roofing sales experience and be competent on ladders and roofs. Please do not apply if you aren’t comfortable with heights, ladders, or inspecting roofs.

With the right attitude and work ethic, $100K annually is easily attainable. I pay a draw each month and then everything is 100% commission.
