Proof of life post! Back from mat leave and excited to be posting here again. I’ll be sprinkling in some more personal tid bits here and there as well as a heck of a lot of pretty spaces. The last six weeks have been pure bliss and exhausting 😴. Here’s some snap shots of our little life since the beginning of May 🩵

Wow! What a beautiful post that humbles us greatly. I am sharing it as one of my greatest pieces of advice to small businesses is to give back to the community that they reside in with abundance. It is such a gift to have a successful small business and giving back in gratitude is a must. Supporting FHPC is such an easy choice as yes, we feel the weight of the cost of health insurance and good healthcare greatly for us and our employees and for people without it, to have a safe, clean, professional place to get help is so important in a community. Not only are people able to get dental and health care, but there is even a small food pantry too.
Please join us in supporting such a worthwhile cause.

Kylie here popping in to share that we welcomed our sweet Sawyer Lee on May 6th. Four weeks of newborn bliss with our boy. We’re so lucky 🍀 🩵

It’s peony season in the showroom! And they pair so beautifully with our Pewter Green cabinetry, walnut shelves and hood apron. Our peonies are a mix of the vintage plants that came with our 1930’s house and the Lois Klemm Pink Peony plant that has traveled from Palatine to Minnesota in the 70’s, from Minnesota to Cary in the 90’s and from Cary to Crystal Lake in 2021. This particular peony hybrid was created by the owner of Klemms Nursery for his wife Lois (who then went on to open a shop in Long Grove called The Pink Peony). As Randy’s grandparents were friends with the Klemms, they were gifted with one of the plants and moved it with them to Minnesota when they retired. We then harvested a few of the plants when they passed and brought them back down to Illinois. We are so thankful that our last move lined up well with being able to safely and successfully move the plants and are honored to be their caretakers so the history of them can live on. Ironically, they are the lightest of all of the bunch. For a flower arranging tip… take leaves off of the stems and line your glass vase with them to hide the unsightly stems. 🤗

Our first full custom kitchen was this one in black, one of the least forgiving paint colors to do a project in. The guys did a great job though and this moody kitchen with a gothic flair turned out so good! Beyond thankful for our workshop and our two guys who when Kylie and I walk in back and say, “hey can you…” they don’t bat an eye (at least not in front of us 😆).

Yes stained wood cabinets are in. We love this kitchen that we added a big pop of color to in the base cabinets that we pulled from the beautiful stone that the client couldn’t wait to incorporate on the island. The hood alcove brought the drama too with inward facing shelves for extra storage for spices, oils and more.

Creating beautiful, functional and efficient spaces is our passion. Designing in our semi-custom cabinet lines that we carry and incorporating custom pieces from our workshop is our joy.

Leaning into one of Cambria’s most beautiful countertop designs, Skara Brae that we will be using in an upcoming project to bring some drama to a waterfall edge and the hood. The view through the living room into this Cambria moment in the kitchen promises to be stunning. We included this mitered top on the island in our showroom to showcase a dramatic island top while the perimeter tops are subtle giving it the moment it deserves!
